okay, so i was surfing ls1tech as usual one night reading up.. and i was thinking down the road if i was to sell my trans am what would i get...

the only thing that came to mind was a corvette...

i know i should do some research first but...sadly enough i don't the difference between the zo6 the c6 and the c5 or w/e

can someone give me a quick breakdown on what each model style is performance wise and how they fall down the scale? horse power wise

oh geez, you could offend Z06 owners with not knowing the difference!!

C5 coupe/vert = 350 HP
C5 Z06 2001 = 385 hp 2002-2004 = 405 HP.. 150 lbs lighter, tighter 1-3 gears, short back window, NON removable top

C6 2005-2007 LS2 400 HP 2008-2009 LS3 430 HP

C6 Z06 = LS7 505 HP. same tranny gears as a C5 coupe (MN6) NON removable top. lots of other goodies. C6Z06 is the king ****

the difference in C5 to C5Z isnt much....its the same car

the difference in C6 to C6Z is HUGE

C6 is much nicer car than a C5. Sit in a C5 you'll recognize many of the controls from your TA. The C6 got a redo. C5Z is nice performance for the $$ if you can live with a fixed roof.

The 2008's and 09s with the LS3 are da bomb. 380 - 390 RWHP with a cleaned up tune. With simple bolt-ons Headers, cold air intake, and T-stat, you are looking at 420 rwhp and 400 RWTQ in a car much lighter and nicer than the TA.

the interior in a C6 is much better, but as far as the cars mechanics they are the same. they should have been called a C5.5

Sure some of it is the same, just like any model upgrade. By the time you get to an 08, there is a fair amount of difference.

Really now, c'mon! Z06 has a different engine, different suspension, it's lighter, not a hatchback, stiffer/handles better, geared differently, etc., etc. It's not the same car. They don't even have the same shape like the C6 and C6Z.

And as someone else said, you left out the FRC.

yes, small differences...but not really different. the MN12 and MN6 are the same tranny, just 1-3 gear ratios are diff. the brake coolers are a joke, suspension is a bit stiffer...the rear has a shot peened gear....big deal. ive never heard of a C5 gear failing. does it have small differences, sure. but its liek saying a cobra isnt a mustang......they are the same with small improvments....nothing like the c6 over the c6Z...but i figured a Z owner would get butthurt by my comment

when I bought mine i did NOT want a Z...only because the removable roof...had to have it. otherwise I like the look of a FRC better

but i kinda got those in the first post...either way, ill smoke a Z with ease

Hey you called it slick, seems to me you are the one hurt by the differences, not me. They aren't the same, period.

If you want to whip out e-***** then our Camaro will "smoke" you. But then that is just pointless since there is always someone quicker.

no, just over the Z guys thinking they have the uber superior C5...a tiny cam and thicker sway bars do not constitute a "better" car. just different. a C5 is a C5 in my book

and indeed, there is always someone...hopefully not to many after i go to the 200 shot though
broken diff F-T-W!!

For the OP:
Base C6= 430 HP(ls3, the ls2 had 400, years 05-07)
C6 Z51= 436HP and suspension pkg.
C6Z06= 505HP from 427 ci engine and is lighter than the C6, also different body panels
C6ZR1= 638 HP sc'd LS3 with lots of carbon fiber, window hood, $15K brakes and a $100K + price tag.

Fortunately, the T56 tran's are pretty tough, but I definately see a new tranny in your near future (especially on the spray)...

No, not even close. It's not a LS3 with a blower on top of it.

Crybabies. Put the C5 and C5Z each on the strip. You'll see maybe 0.3 difference if a miracle happens.
