Default First time out at the track ever!!

Well went up to Bowling Green yesterday to the 1/4 track to get some times and to practice with the car. I borrowed some BFG drag radials from a buddy so I had to learn how to drive the car with those too. They are TOTALLY different from street tires and well now I want some!

Anyways, trying to drive a high powered manual car is pretty fun. It is a blast when you get it down though. I only had two passes and the first one was a pretty big wash. I didnt do a long enough burn out, didnt launch at a high enough RPM and missed 4th because I was trying too hard.

Second run I did everything pretty good. Had a huge 8-10 second burnout to get the tires hot. Launched around 4500 RPMS (still too low though) and shifted pretty good in my mind. So for the first time out EVER at a dragstrip I think I did all right.

Here is the second run.

60'..........2.021
330'.........5.693
1/8..........8.692
1/8 MPH....84.07
1000'........11.182
1/4...........13.313
1/4 MPH.....106.13

All in all, it was fun. I need some more seat time but with my mods I could break into the 12s with good driving.

BTW, turn off your TC before attempting your burnout!

Nice runs, man. Keep workin on that launch and you should be able to shave it down to a 1.8 60', which just might get you that 12-second pass.

I know, I was pretty happy for literally my first good run out.

Yea, the launch is pretty damn tricky but I had a friend who took his completely stock 99 SS to 12.9s so he was a huge help.
