New to the LS1 world
Hey guys thought id stop in and introduce myself. Ive been a member for a while now but have just recently got my first LS1. I picked up a 98 z28 m6 with 78k miles and just want to have some fun with it. It already has a BBK 80mm TB installed and also a weiand intake thats not installed and flowmaster cat back already on car. I ran it sat and turned a 13.55@105 with a 60' of 2.02 which i dont think is too bad for street tires but could be improved im sure. I just picked up a set of hooker LT with a ORY so i plan on putting the headers on next week along with the weiand intake. Would assume that should put me in the 12's with a tune? Maybe low to mid 12's with some drag radials. Sorry for all the talk but I will get some pics of my car up soon.

I was just trying to be easy on the rear since ive herd they dont take much beating to break but i still need to get used to the car. I ran it on the first day I got it and only made three passes just to get a feel for it.

It's good you've accepted the weakness of the 10 bolt early on
It's sad f-body owners have to be so cautious with their cars just because of the weak *** rearend... Once you get past that though, these things seem limitless.

Ive been curious of what exactly breaks in these rear ends or do they just kill the whole thing. I would think if its the diff then why not get a good one but if its the case i guess it wouldnt make sense to waste time and money on the stock unit.

Mid 12s in good air would be my guess with a good 60 foot time. As mentioned, start saving for a stout rear end, as these cars had "shortcomings" in that area!

i just wish there was a easy or atleast a cheaper fix than a 12 bolt or 9". Anyone ever herd of using a rear out of a 73 to 77 gm with 8.5". Im going to look into it and see what i can come up with just need to check the width of both setups and see what can be fabbed up.
