New '10 SS dialed in the 14's?
I raced at the Motorplex in Ennis on Saturday. There was a 2010 SS in the trophy street class that I was hoping to get to run in my '02 SS. It wasn't to be, however, since he went out 1st round. The thing that bothered me though was his dial in. He dialed a 14.30 first round and ran a 14.1xx. WTF? When I saw the dial on his window I had to take a second look and make sure it was an SS. It was a beautiful car though. Perhaps it needs a driver mod.
Weather wasn't great, August in TX. I don't know the DA since I predict with O2. Temp about 80*, 40% humidity, OA about 5100.
I did beat a Steda Stang in the finals for the win, and that was even more rewarding.

Since I don't know the time I tried to pick a 'cooler' part of the day when people would be racing...
~7pm - 3125 DA - 14.1 corrects to 13.5
~8pm - 2965 DA - 14.1 corrects to 13.5
~9pm - 2338 DA - 14.1 corrects to 13.7
Seems pretty normal to me given the DA and the fact that most people can't drive to a cars given potential.

The 2010 was an auto.
Even when as delivered from the dealer my SS never clocked anything over 14 seconds. The worst was a 13.9 durring the middle of a Texas summer. I thought the 2010s were faster than that.

The auto cars are pretty slow un tuned........My stick car run's 12.0's with headers, exhaust and a tune. That was at Dallas Raceway Sunday evening while it was 88 degrees out side. The da was 2900 and 60% humidity.

I have never bracket raced but I think I would set my dial in fast if anything so that I don't break out. Maybe he figured he would be better trying to slow him self down to hit his dial in? Regardless I think driver modd/experiance is needed!

Autos are slow. they actually produce less whp by a large margin than the m6s.
My ls1 rx7 with ported tb and full exhaust put down 336whp and then on the same dyno I got it on video the first auto v8 camaro dynoed with the dealer plates still on (musta had like 40 miles on the thing) and it put down about 320whp. Now with a tune and a break in that will prob be right around the same power I put down with an ls1.. thats pretty sad if you ask me.

At 5000+ DA in a heavy car though I wouldent be surprised if it was a manual. That DA is killer, thats almost as bad as racing in colorado.

I'm not arguing that autos don't make less power, of course they do. All I said was they aren't slow. And you won't see a 40rwhp difference between a manual and auto, they aren't that different.
