Default Bone Stock ZR1 Runs 10s on Factory Tires

This past Monday my father and I took the '09 ZR1 up to a last minute private rental at MIR put on by Ranger of corvetteforum fame. This was the first time we ran the car since the April rental where I turned an 11.05 on stock tires and Ranger ran a 10.98 on drag radials in the car. We had a little better air than April but it was pretty close. We ended up with 2 new record times for a bone stock ZR1 and stock with drag radial. These times may be the quickest confirmed 1/4 mile ETs of any bone stock street legal production car avaliable in America.

10.851 @ 129.89 w/ 1.708 60' Bone stock on stock tires, me driving

10.730 @ 132.46 w/ 1.72 60' stock on drag radial, Ranger driving.

Holy S**t. Not to take away from the ZR1 but a Z06 with a S/C will probuce approx the same power. It there something the ZR1 has that aids in the increadble times other than that monster motor? God that thing sounds beautiful!!!!!!!

10.90's? Stock Z06? That's seems like a super fast time for stock.

I think the ZR1 still has more in it. Should be more than a couple tenths faster than a Z06.

We put the drag radials on late in the day and that is when Ranger took some pass (I did all the stock tire passes). He only did 3 passed , hot lapped, in a row. Every single one was a 10.73x. He did pull a 1.68 60' time on the last pass but it was not the best ET as the car may have been heating up some. We are just scratching the surface on the drag radial we have confidence that we will see 10.5s once we get a little more experience with the DRs.

Yes, I agree that it has more in it. The ZR1 has only been out a year and only a hand full are making it to the track. The best Z06 times came after a few years and may passes at the strip. We are still learing how to best drive the car. It is different than the Z06, different launch, different shift points, different gearing. I think we will see 10.7s on stock tires and 10.5s on drag radials.

Ranger is a shifting machine, he consistantly got +2mph more than me out of the car just by his percison and speed. Before these last 2 rentals it had been many years since I had done any drag racing in a manual tranny car.

A few more passes and some better weather and the ZR1 might go 10.60 @ 134-135 on 18" drag radials. All they need to do is catch a sunny day with the DA around -1500 or better and watch out!
