.
Are you logging or keeping track of wheel speed some how.
I run a 6300 on my BBC and wheel speed can get away from you quickly when you leave that hard.

leaving at 4000 rpm on the limiter doesn't matter since the converter will flash to 6800 correct? Maybe I am missing something. You say the car hooks and that is what matters, just curious because your answer about it hooking was the limiter when asked.

Exactly, even with my tires, I can't just bring in everything I want on every track.
You still get a running start, and at 6800, that a pretty big shock. Even if you do adjust the launch chip,
the shock is still significant.
If he's not having trouble at 6800 great. I've never been that lucky myself.
I also have BBC's with a little more torque to try & control.

I remember talking with a NMCA pro stock racer, and I can quote him saying "If I want to make the record setting pass, I'll just go from my 8200 converter to the 9100, and I'll let it hang it all hang out the back door at 10500 RPM's!" hahaha
I'll try to find some vids of his car...

i dont completly understand it but all i know is i have tried launching the car at 5000rpm before and it spins the tires. i launch it at 4000rpm and it hooks and it has been 1.29 60ft with the 408 so i dont really mess with it i stay right at the same launching rpm. i think it might have something to do with how hard the converter flashes to its stall speed. im not honostly sure though

Congrats, thats a big pickup!
They are all different.
With ashleys car (it went to @5900 on the brake full bore if I remember right) it would hit the tires softer if you stood on the brake, then let it go. If you had the two step underneath the true stall, and let it go it would hit that stall rpm "rharder" flashing thru it as the brake was released and hit the tire harder. Couple different ways to get it to hit the tire to find what it likes. Hers ended up going 1.26s a couple times on 275 drag radials when it was going 9.50s NA
Ive always liked to leave the rpm up, and take some power away.
