Default S.I. so close to 11's

Well made it back to the track finally on sunday. Street Car Chaos at US 41. The car my DD except that gets stored during winters. It's a full weight street car, around 3600+ pounds race weight. Removed spare, jack, and car seat from the car before heading to the track. Also bolted on some M/T ET Street radials that are on the stock 16" rims. Had 17" Z06 rims with 275/45's in front.

Has most of the bolt-on's to get the air in and out. Chris1313 ram air, lid, P&P TB, LS6 intake, Pacesetter LT's, ORY, Loudmouth catback. For suspension it has weld in SFC's, UMI adjustable LCA's, relo brackets, and PH bar. I just know realized it, but I wish I would have removed the STB from the front of the car. It has 3.73's in the 10 bolt and a SS4000 converter in the stock 4L60E.

The car ran a 13.7 @ 104.XX with the only mods being a lid and catback way back in 04 when I first bought it. When I went to the track in June this year with all of the current mods minus the ram air I could only run a 12.6 @ 110.3 with a 1.966 60' It was a test and tune and couldn't get the new M/Ts to hook. Was actually pretty pissed that all I only went from 12.9 to a 12.6 with the addition of the tires and SS4000.

So since sunday was an event I was hoping for better track prep and it was for sure better air than when I ran the end of June, but was still unsure of what kind of number it would run.

First time down the track leaving off idle I pulled a 1.67 60' and ran 12.111 @ 111.64 Was pretty happy with that so got right back in line and ran against a fellow tech members 2011 5.0 Mustang.

This was the best drag race I've ever been a part of. I previously ran this car on the street from a roll and got smoked by a few car lengths. At the track we warmed the tires, line up, stall the car up to around 1800 to 2000 RPM, and he cuts a better light than me. He's out on me but I've never felt my car launch as good as it did. By the 1/8 mile I'm in front by maybe 3/4 of a car if that. I look over at the 1/4 mile mark and he's creeping up on me, to the point where I can see him looking back at me. Get back to the timing shack and get my timeslip. I won by .02 seconds. If the track was another 10 - 20 feet longer he would have passed me.

My timeslip read 1.613 60' and 12.032 @ 111.36 mph. I was pretty pumped up about the race and being so close to the 11.99 goal that I've had set for the car while it's stock internal all along. It for sure has an 11 second pass in it, just not gonna happen this year . Ran two more times, got greedy and launched about 3k but blew the tires off to a 2.11 60' and ran 13.0 @ 110. Lined up again, backed off a bit on the launch but still spun a little 1.8 60' and 12.3 @ 111. Had to get going after that so didn't get to run again.

Well that's got to be about the longest post I've ever had, just pretty happy with the results and the race and yet still a little bummed about not joining the Stock Internal 11 second club, but theres always next year.

Nice job man. Your car runs very well for what's done. There are TONS of things you can do to get well into the 11's NA. Is the front swaybar on the car still? Skinnies would help alot, along with removing the STB like you mentioned. You could always take out the back/passenger seats when you go to run too, no big deal going in/out.

I know how it feels to be happy with a new best but still disappointed a bit too. Thats how I'm feeling right now too.

Very cool man! You need to lose weight if you can't make more hp. You can also dial up the suspension a bit. We both have ss4000s and 255 50 16 radials, I usually 60 low 1.5's. Just that alone would get you well into the 11's.

Your getting great 60 ft times but it seems like your MPH is alittle slow.

Those are some pretty good 60's you are pulling, what kind of race weight are you at? I figure depending on how fast I want to go (ie. how much I want to spend) stock internal, I could toss on an underdrive pulley, remove the front sway bar, get some skinnies, and start taking some weight out. I know there is time that could be shaved with more suspension work. Baby number 2 is on the way so I'll need to save up for that instead of throwing money at any winter projects on the car.

Thanks! I put it on the truck scale at work yesterday with the jack and spare back in and 3/4 of a tank of gas with me in it the car weighed 3660, so I'd say my guess of 3600 race weight was pretty close give or take a few pounds.

Yup, swaybar will help. Look at my threads, cause I've been doing this on a shoe string budget!! I weighed mine at GLD last weekend and came in at 2975. So around 3250 raceweight. I'm hoping to get a more accurate weight this weekend. FYI, there is a f body track rental at Cordova dragway park on Saturday, you should bring it out!

Oh, after seeing that pic, what do you have you tires aired to? I'm 50 in front and 15 in the back.

That's another thing I thought of last night after the fact. The rears were at 17 and the left front was at 30 while the right was at 20 for some odd reason when I checked last night. Wish I'd have aired them up in front and played with the rear pressure a little more.

You've got so many little easy improvements to make it's not even funny. 11's should be super easy the next time you head out.
