Draglites results (weird)

Draglites results (weird)
Made a few runs on Saturday trying to move up a few spots on the SI list.
I borrowed a full set of Weld Draglites (radial skinnies up front and 26x11.5 ET Streets out back).
With that setup my best run was:
1.548 - 60'
4.682 - 330'
7.341 - 1/8
91.78 - MPH
9.657 - 1000'
11.607 - 1/4
117.94 - MPH
(57 degrees, 218' DA)
All my runs were right around that with a best 60' of 1.538
Then I switched back to my Full set of 17' WS6 wheels with MT drag radials on the back.
The best that way was:
1.574 - 60'
4.696 - 330'
7.363 - 1/8
93.63 - MPH
9.688 - 1000'
11.659 - 1/4
113.91 - MPH
(58 degrees, 331' DA)
The 1/8 MPH is weird but the other runs I had on my 17s the 1/8 MPH was 91.xx
So overall with the drag wheels I gained:
.02-.03 in the 60'
.02-.03 in the 1/8
MPH roughly the same (except the on pass where it gained MPH with the 17s)
.05-.07 in the 1/4
and 4 MPH in the 1/4
I would have thought there would have been more ET gain and less MPH gain. The skinnies are roughly 20-25 pounds lighter per wheel than my 17s and the rears/ET Streets are around 15-20lbs light than my 17s and drag radials. So somewhere around 80lbs of the car with nearly half that of the drive train.
Before my stall, I went from 12.74 on my 17s to 12.56 on Draglites (but with heavy radials on the back and not the ET streets). The weather was a little better but not much.
Here is a video of my best on 17s (didn't get a good one on the Draglites).

None of it makes any sense to me at all. The only reason I could see the ET streets (bias ply) tires have the higher mph is that they grow at higher speeds opposed to the ET radials. All of your MPH gain was after the 1/8 mile so you car must have stayed in it's optimal powerband for a longer period of time with the growing bias ply tire.

I was pretty happy with the MPH but not so much with the ET.
Well I've got about 4 fluke passes.

I agree the drag radials should have gave you back some of the mph you'd lose on the wide tire rolling resistance and added weight. The gain is all in your 60 foot, which should not be the case as the rotating weight should also give you some. It also seems weird the 1/8-mile mph is close between the two, but 4 mph on the top end?? Something weird indeed. Try it again, possibly at other track to eliminate the variables.

The part that gets me is the fact that the 17's had 2 more MPH in the 1/8 and 4 less in the 1/4. I would have thought the heavier 17's would have been slower in the 1/8 and more MPH in the 1/4.

That makes no sense at all. Did you spray a 50hp dry shot in 3rd on the skinnies passes? LOL. It almost looks like you manually locked the converter in 3rd on those passes or something.
Do you still have stock manifolds on that car?
I really have no explanation for your bizarre 2 MPH loss/4 MPH gain...I'd have thought you'd pick up MPH everywhere The 26 MPH gain from 1/8 to 1/4 is very stout for an A4 car, the 20.xx MPH gain you had with the 17s is kinda low though. Weird wild stuff.

Your trap speed with the draglites is sick. What's your raceweight with them?
I think some gears would really help your 1/8 times. With that 60' and MPH you should be in the 11.40s no sweat, maybe 11.30s. I know my car would with that much MPH.

was this in both lanes?
the MPH numbers I dont get at all. Maybe its how the timers read the tires? What size were the front tires on the draglites? The stock 17 whees should be about 25.5 right?
Even if you has a 1inch difference I dont think they could be a 2 MPH loss/4 MPH gain??? I would thing there was something outside the tires that show that weird numbers? Im lost. haha

Hey man nice runs .I'm having the kinda the same issues except my car is faster with the 17" tires then with a 26x10.50x15 et street .
On 9-16-11 my car went with 17's on all 4 corners
11.51@115.63 w/1.51 60ft with 275/40/17 BFG drag radial DA was 291ft
1/8 was 7.27@92.37
Then on 9-30-11 my car went 15x3/15x8
11.55@118.95 w/1.54 60ft with some 26/10.50/15 et street bias. DA was 567 ft
1/8 was 7.31@94.48
times in sig are in winter air with bogarts and a 275/50/15 et street drag radial
