Does it handle the rain at highway speeds or is it more or less enough to get you home?

I'm running Genral Tire AltiMAX HPs this year which are fantastic in the snow/rain but I'm not setting any 60ft records. If I put any kind of tire on here it will have to be able to handle the rain like a champ or I might as well go with a track only tire.

They handle the rain like a champ. As odd as it sounds that was one of my priorities in a dr or I woulda bought the Hoosiers. These dot dr tires that have no tread has no place being dot approved IMO. Might as well run a slick and stop yankin their dicks over dot look at my street tire ****.

Hio, when are you planning on going back to Mason Dixon? I'm hoping to be there in the end of March beginning of April. If we happen to be up there at the same time I might be able to record it.

Probably around then. I sent my ewp out to get rebuilt. So when ever it gets back it should be ready to go....well I'm gonna do a little tune up on it to. Just some new plugs, o2's(I have a bad one), fuel filter and a new radiator.

What size drag radial r u running?
I'm planning on switching since we are on the limiter thru the traps with the 4.10 gears.

A 275/50-15 M&H. They list it as 26" tall. What rpms are you turning yours? These things would probably go to 7200 with fresh springs. I made the change from 4.10's a long time ago.....and still go threw the trapps at about 6700.

So are you gonna answer what fuel you guys are runnin?

Yep....I ditched the 4.10's years ago to get it off the limiter. Never did really like the 4.10's either.

I have 3 passes on the motor. I think we set the limiter to about 6700,6900,7100 in progression because we were hitting the limiter before the traps.
The car trapped 129+,130+,129+.
The tires are around 26" on a 16" rim, listed wider, bit I run a 10" rim.
I have a set of 275 50 15's on 15" rims but they measure closer to 25"'s and although they will et better, they will trap higher and I'm not sure it will be safe motorwise. Consider that I trapped close to 105mph in the 1/8.
I'm reluctant to raise the limter and mostly concerned about the stock rod bolts. At some point maybe in the fall or later when this motor goes back in I'll just do the rod bolts and spin it to 7200+. All this was done in good air so on warm days I don't think the rpm will be an issue.

so you want us to believe your c5z06 is on par with an enzo ferrari that makes high 500's to the wheels and is lighter than you? gtfo!

with you trying to post that, you're basically trying to tell other c5z06 owners in a very non schalant way that "everyone is stupid and doesn't know how to drive and buying h/c for your ls6 is a waste of time because a silly intake and exhaust will give you a 10 second timeslip and 130+ mph trap speeds...."

now im all for z06's running high 10's (its been done before) , but for you and hioSS to sit here and tell us you pick up mph in the back end like cars that make waaay more than you do (and are waaaaay lighter than a vette or fbody) is not possible.

if you both knew something that no one else did, im sure you would've opened you're own performance shop by now because if you can make a vette/camaro run those trap speeds, you definetly have a gold mine of an idea and make a killer living.

but the reality is that you're running something else to get those trap speeds (n20,h/c) etc. and are unwilling to come forward and admit it and have everyone just sit here and swallow this.

let me ask you both this: so because your "untouched, forced induction-less" get such good times with I/E , your saying that with a small shot of n20 or a small amount of boost from a turbo, your car will be in the 8's at 145+?

man i wish either one of you lived out here; id love to shine up a bolt-on c5 z06 from a dig or a roll just to make a point. it wud be puppy kicking but it would be worth it.

no need to reply back as i already know what your reply will contain : " ...believe what you want, it happened!" , "...my car is fast and nobody can drive like me" "....you should've bought an ls6 instead of an evo..." " ..Jupiter and the north star were aligned correctly thus giving me optimal track conditions " and blah blah blah.

i ran into this thread by accident...and i have a few comments.

5LITERBEATER? it could happen.

HIO? can't believe i agree with you. probably won't happen again.

history: i started out as a VW wrench. racing them in the 80's. wanted to go faster so i looked for the lightest V8 chasis. it happens to be a fox chasis.

so i built a lot of fords. trappping 130+ in a 3000bs RACE WEIGHT 400-500rwhp cars has been and IS being done all over the world.

its funny to me how ricers like their 1800lb 300rwhp cars, but when a v8 car gets the weight down and runs spectacular times its BS.

HIo's tactics are spot on for the fastest ET's. all except the faceplating thing. HIO a 3 speed auto uses less power and will ET/MPH faster. just plain truth.

there are lots of stock long blocks running like that.
With all it’s upgrades the Mustang recently laid down a 10.29-second quarter mile time at Maryland International Raceway with a trap speed of 130mph. Not bad for a car with a sealed Coyote under the hood.
http://www.stangtv.com/news/video-co...sealed-engine/

the coyote and ls6 are VERY even matched.

that is a rules class. sealed engine. anyone can repeat that with a ls6 for sure. it just takes the right chasis combo. IMO.

Considering a bolt on auto base c5 can run 10's@123+, i believe this car with considerably more hp can run this.

LOL...pigs do fly. I also agree with a auto being faster.....for sure easier to 60'. But the fun factor is not there for me and my car is my dd so a 3speed auto kinda sucks for that these days. I'm just not interested in a drag only type set-up at this point.

I also think the ls6 and coyote are a good match up....been saying that for a while now. I would even give a slight edge to the coyote. What gets me is the ford guys thinking it was a better match-up for the ls7, and the fact that Ford was 9yrs behind on a solid n/a set-up.
