I've never had the engine apart but as far as I can tell its stock, aluminum block with 241 heads. Everything else appears stock.

Very cool! Was this at Joliet or 131? You guys should race True Street with me at the NMCA race in July at Rt 66 in joliet. 30 mile cruise and 3 back to back passes, no lifting the hood allowed! you can shoot for the 12.0 Average with me and junior can shoot for 13.0 the average prize.

Sounds like a blast! We live about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from joliet so it wouldn't be a bad trek out there. Drive 30 miles and then three back to back passes? Not a problem...we would be driving almost 100 miles one way. lol

I tried to but he keeps changing the subject... He won't even come to the track with me for once to see there is nothing bad about it. He's only worried about that chance of a bad driver losing control of his car and, well you know the rest.

I did some serious street racing in the late eighties/early nineties so I know what that world is like...Supposedly I was even chased by broward county sheriffs during a filming of "Cops" - the guy i was allegedly racing at the time was caught and arrested. The street racing scene is a very dangerous and shady world. I'd much rather be sharing an experience with my son at the track together then to have him sneaking around my back street racing.

Hmm, i thought only the 2001+ cars came with the ls6 intake/241 heads? So unless im wrong (which i prolly am) someone has been into that engine atleast far enough to swap the heads..

I thought mid-year 2000 they started installing the 241 heads. I could be wrong, I don't know a whole lot about ls engines - I am still learning.

What an incredibly fun day and treasure to line up with your son after wrenching in the garage on the cars together. We both had a great day - he ran 13.20 at 106 on his second pass ever and I ran 12.40 at 114.

Just had to share what a great day it was.
That's pretty neat isn't it? Although we are older, my son and I also race, and reading this reminded me, I've never raced him! Might have to do that this weekend.

I believe I'll spank him!

Keep me posted on how it goes. Us dad's have to stick together and keep these young whipper snappers in their place. I keep telling him I will always be able to take him down. I think he's accepted the challenge. oops LOL
