New times with new motor, need suggestions!
So I finally took my car to the track with the new motor. It has about 10,000 miles on it now so its really not so new.
My best time was:
2.25 60 ft
8.32 eighth mile et
90.36 eight mile mph
12.58 quarter mile et
115.43 mph
So I have new Nitto 555r on the car. I tried them at 32 psi, 25, 20, 18 and 15. I also tried launc at idle, 1500, 2000, 4000 and 5000. It seemed to work best at 4000 or 5000 and peddle it. Any suggestions on tire pressure and launching?
I really like the Nitto 555r on the street but they really stink at the track.
So this winter I am going to put a Strange S60 with 410 or 430's in it. I assume these gears will help my times but by how much?

That 60' is terrible lol, needs a lot of work. What are you doing for your burnout?
17-18psi is probably the lowest I would go. 555R's aren't the greatest tire, more of a glorified street tire than a real drag radial. They need to be heated up a lot in order to hook decent.
Your best bet for the launch is trying 3500-4000rpm, and quickly slipping the clutch then go from there. It's trial and error, the more seat time you have the better.
Are you still on the stock 10 bolt? A rear end with gears isn't going to help you if you can't hook and 60' properly. A better set of drag radials would be a good investment (M/T, Hoosier etc.) but would probably wait until you have a stronger rear so you don't pop the 10 bolt at the track if you have one.
If you can get the car to a 1.7x 60' range you should be able to knock off close to a second and be in the mid 11's. The mph seems low for the power, some of that is due to the 60' and some may be due to your shifting.
Morale of my post: Get some better tires, get some more seat time, tighten up the shifts, get the 60' down and you have an 11 sec car at 118-120mph.

For the burnout I am doing maybe 5 or 10 seconds, there is alot of smoke. It was around 90 degrees out so I figured I didnt need to heat them much. Do i need to heat them more than this? The tires are also brand new.
As far as mph, i thought it was kinda low also, could it be my rear gearing is still 3.42? How much would I pick up if I installed 410's. I am debating on putting them in the 10 bolt as I can do this myself fairly cheap.
As far as shifting, I tried the shift light at 6400 with no luck so then I bumped it up to 6800. I have a mgw shifter and pretty much just shift as fast as I can.
Thanks for the help.

If your gonna put gear in it then try 3.90's. They will work better. Other than that I would say you need practice. We make similar power. I'm sure my car is lighter but you should be in the 11's@~120 pretty easily even at near stock weight.

I know i need practice, i havent been to the track in 2 years. I only was at the track 2 hours on saturday as I had to leave early for something else.
So I am going to try slipping the clutch out but I know monster clutches dont like this much. Also I will try 18 to 20 psi, my last passes were at 15 hot.
My best mph is the 115, best 60' was a 2.1. Also, I checked this morning my 1/8 mile mph was pretty consistent, about 89 mph.
