Default 99 TA A4 BONESTOCK 9.2 in 1/8th

Did some test N tune last night with my son's car. Kind of disappointed in those times but like I said it truly is stock from the AC to street tires etc. This car has stock lid and air filter. So since I am mostly a ford guy I would like some suggestions to get this car to run 7.50s in street trim with NO Nitrous or power adder. Is it possible? Willing to buy heads, cam new rear but I want to be able to fire the car up and drive across state with the Air on. The rear end howls already, car has 101,000 miles on it. So I was thinking of these mods but not sure on the right product and sizes etc. Here is my list of thinking and please correct me if im wrong.

4.10s
4,000 stall
Heads and cam
New intake and mass air meter's
What exhaust? Do not want 200 pound steel junk that sounds like SLP

So any help with cam choices and heads please let me know.

I ran 7.2-7.3 1/8th with ls6. Ported 243's, custom grind cam, fast 90/90, 4.10's, 3400 stall and with a t56. Rod bolts, 3000lb car. Had more in it. Didn't even have headers. I plan on running the same with 4000 stall, stock 243's, full exhaust, 3.42 gears, and Vic Jr with elbow. On 18" radials

The cam before was 617/612. 248/254 114+4 and had really good top end but sluggish down low. Surged at low rpm cruising

I feel like there is more in this car as is. My 196k mile 94 T/A A4 with a tired *** LT1 ran 9.08@78 mph. You at high elevation or something?

I run mid 7.5-7.6 in my 02 camaro on motor. My setup is pacesetter LT's, texas speed ory, magnaflow catback, meziere water pump, underdrive pulley,3.73 gears, 3400 nitrous converter, and good tune. The car has the carpet and back seats out at the moment but the added weight of a 6pt cage, subframe connectors, and driveshaft loop so not really any weight reduction.

Very Humid and Elevation is kinda low 700ft. My Mph was 77, but I have street tires and drove it in Drive only. With a better 60ft im guessing there could be a .010th or 2 at most. This car is a true Bone Stocker. But not for long muahaha

Off topic but have you experienced a decrease in mph n/a due to a nitrous converter being so tight compared to a n/a stall.

Im running a nitrous converter too and for some reason my setup is about 4-6mph short of everyone else. Just trying to track down the culprit.

A 9.2 isnt great but mid 7's is possible with a stout setup. Weight reduction will be your friend. My buddy has a 2013 F250 stock with a programer and that dude ran 8.9's! Wicked.

Nuts...Yes my car still has the heat,AC,and cruise control. And as for the heads they should be the same as what i have.

Fohawk...I went straight from the stock converter to the nitrous converter so no real way to compare there. On motor i run 7.5-7.6 at 90mph and 6.9-7.1 at 96-97mph on a 100 dry shot.

In da +2500 or better..

PTC 4000 converter
Mid size cam (something similar to a 228R)
Full exhaust
Ls6 intake
Drag radials
Tune

That should net you sold mid 7s all day long.

Stock MAF isn't a restriction until 450Rwhp or so. The stock one will do just fine.

I don't recommend 410s... I don't recommend gears at all if you already have 3.23s.

Youre WAAAAAY down on power if youre only running 77 mph. Has the car had a tune up since you got it? I picked up 3 mph just by doing a FULL tune on my car. I suggest you would pick up more since you have 60-70 more hp than me stock.

Start there then go bolt ons, and H/C/I with a good converter and tune. Easy mid to low 7s full weight on radials mid to high 7s on street tires.

That's the plan.. Thanks All for the advice. Any links to some good tech advice? What do you all think of a Detriot locker in the stock rear end with hardened axles? I don't want to use a ford 9 inch or a 8.8 nor a 12 bolt.
