Default Almost stock 2001 SS first passes

First time at the track with my camaro. My goal was at least a 13.99@100+ and I got it on my first run so I was happy. Best 60' was a 2.277 and that was a bog down to 2k so I know I couldve done better but all in all I was happy. 13.79@104 isn't bad at all for a high mileage pretty much stock camaro.

Nice. I would do a little tune up with basic maintenance, get some better tires, and go get some more seat time. Should be able to manage some mid-low 13's out of it.

Nice ET for your first time out especially with the mileage.

If my clutch wasnt slipping, the car had 150k less miles, had better tires, and a slight breeze at my back at this track then yes id agree with you.

Mileage doesn't mean as much as people think it does to these LS engines. If it were a small block chevy from the 70's then it would be a little different issue. The clutch and tires are your biggest issue but seeing as how your goal was a 13.99 then that tells me you are more interested in cruising than having a drag car.

My stock internals 6 speed car went 11.9's back when it had 215,000 miles , if it would still shift at rpm it could still do it at current 237,000 miles . If they still run healthy ignore the miles , my daily driver front drive v6 4 door 3800 Sc regal ran as quick as 13.1 @109 on a small shot and 13.5 @104 no spray with just over 200k and at 220k could still do it also . Guys in the conversions section take 250k 6.0's and put turbos on them and runs 9's &10's , if it has oil pressure and compression it will make power regardless of miles.

I trust a good running high miles unopened engine over most rebuilds , and plenty of "builds"

thats right in line with what the mags said stock our cars ran 13.5 to 13.8 probably with experienced drivers. if you get any wheel hop just add SFC & LCA to plant the rear tires.

Get some more seat time... on a 2.1 60ft I went 13.1 @ 108 bone stock (245/50R16 GYE RSAs) Just need a nice and smooth launch and the results will likely surprise you. I am not even a good driver...

The next spring my wife pulled of a 13.1 @ 106...

Surely if my Z28 can do it your SS should be more than capable.

Had nothing better to do so I went back to the track with longtubes/ catted y pipe added. Best run was a 13.3@107.5. Had to shift slow due to my stock hydraulics getting tired. Got locked out of 4th half my runs. And if i shift fast my clutch slipped. Got the 60 down a hair still room for improvement there. 2.23. Did a 13.4@93 when i was locked out and that wouldve been my best run 8.6@86.7 was my 1/8.
