I went 7.58 w/ a 12.31 1/4 mile... but my old raggedy converter SUCKED... 12.30s @ 104mph. I had a wore out big 3600, flp level 4 tranny, 3.23s, ported 02 exhaust manifolds(don't laugh I was in high school and didn't have any money), ORY with cutout, free mods, lid and a tune that I did with ls1 edit. I did go 7.1s with a 100 shot of nitrous to the tune of 11.4s @ 114 on draglites and 26x10.5 et streets out back.

You have a whole lot of weight to get out of the car to do it. Your gunna have to get it to around 3,000lbs race weight, with a 4.11 gear, a bad *** converter, need all the bolt on power mods you can get.

I don't think an 1 7/8s header is a good choice for a stock motor, it'll kill the torque, you'll pick up a couple hp but it'll be all the way up in the rpm range. You'de need to spin the motor past where the stock camshaft will make any power to be able to take advantage of em.

BUT YES YOU CAN DO IT. Its not something that will be accomplished on a budget without hacking the car to hell to get to the weight that its gunna take to do it.

My car could be a DD if needed.
I don't have any extreme weight reduction. On the track my car is 3250-3300. Before racing I take out the seats, swaybar, and try to have 1/4 tank gas or less. Just the back seats + pass seat is 83lbs. Then the reduction in gas is another 50 or so. I hate driving on the street without swaybar.

Your car weighs the same? I have a lot more out than the seats and swaybar.

The car has got to be light to get there. Killer convertor, suspension be spot on,great tune, and good weather,it's not cheap going stock internal but can be fun and a challenge.

good thing about doing it stock internal is when you finally do drop a big motor in or whatever you'll already have the car when it needs to be to go fast.

That's a strong running 180k mile car you've got there.

Just for referance I ran the below times with about the same mods. Lid, LT's and ORY, LM1, Yank 4k, LS6 intake, LCA's and DR's. Car is 3600 with me in it.

60' - 1.593
1/8 mile - 7.5551
1/8 MPH - 88.91
1/4 mile - 11.993
1/4 MPH - 110.53

That was about 2 years ago and haven't done much to the car since. I'd like to think I could find a few more tenths in the S.I. setup with some weight out and a few other things done to it.

Thanks for the kind words...

And 6.55 in the 1/8th is crazy fast for stock long block 2700lb is where that's coming from and tuning the hell out of it good job I'll be happy with a 6.9 and 200k miles

Did you put an auto in it? If so what kind and size converter? I have been struggling to get past 10.8, but my SS should be around 2800# raceweight now vs. 3200.
