How do you like the Strange coilovers? Obviously they are getting the job done, but just curious if you've ever run others, and if so, how they compare. What adjustment can be made with them being single adjustable?

Single adjustables have a fixed compression. They allow for 10 different settings as far as extension. I've always had the single adjustables up front and used to have the cheap Comp ones in the rear. Comp ones worked fine but were only 3 way adjustable and they had to be taken off to adjust so I basically just wanted more adjustability.

I'm going to be making a lot more power next year so we'll see how the single adjustables do. I'd spring for the doubles if you can especially with a manual car... Always nice to have the option to try different adjustments

Thanks for the reply. Viking double adjustable coilovers seem to be very good. I just need to pull the trigger on them. Been procrastinating too long.

Typically singles on front mean REBOUND only and on rear mean COMPRESSION only.

I'd go with doubles in front and singles in rear.

The rear can be tricky to tune and takes a bit of experience to dial in. I usually recommend singles in back for people new to it so they only have to adjust compression. You can get lost very easily so it's best to keep it simple. You will use different settings for radials and slicks and changing track conditions. Keep in mind you also have the fine tuning adjustability with your launch rpm and your tire pressure.

By contrast, the fronts are much easier to tune and having the extra compression adjustability can make a difference, so having a dual up front should be beneficial IMO right out of the gate. Up front, the concept is also easier to grasp so it's less difficult to make a change and see it work from one run to the next.

One tip is to try your best to only change one thing at a time so you know exactly what worked or didn't work and you can go right back to where you were if your 60' increased. And I usually alter the setting by about 3 clicks when first dial in a setup to make sure there was enough change made.

Strange makes good mid level shocks which are typically typically all we need to drag race and sometimes more than we need.

For example, on my c5Z with 470hp (Mustang dyno) I run duals up front and stock leaf/shocks in the rear. If the car works don't be quick to change things unless your setup changes radically or you hp increases dramatically and then I would still only move slowly with suspension modifications.

Thanks. Great advice. Likely will do Viking coilovers up front since they are double adjustable. Does Strange make a single adjustable rear coilover, or just the shocks? If not, does anyone make a single adjustable rear coilover?

I'm sure several companies do.
QA1 does.
Check Afco and Strange too.

Well, I can get the Viking double adjustable rears for less than, or right at, what those single adjustable ones cost. Guess I'll just go Viking front and rear coilovers.

I've been impressed with Phil's car for a long time. We are local and I've seen him make a lot of runs in the car and then drive home from the grove.

Looking forward to Chapter II. And you are even painting the hood now!

Phil, when did you make this 10.41 pass? I thought all the tracks were closed.

OP, that lid setup you have, could that be run on the street? Would some type of screen or filter be needed on the velocity stack?

Hmm not sure. The velocity stack sits pretty low so I just ran it without a filter at the track. You might be able to cut/modify a filter so you can run one with the that lid on there all the time or put a screen on the velocity stack itself. I always just had a standard FTP lid and would switch it for that one at the track.

What velocity stack?
What TB and intake?
I'm thinking about putting one on my FAST 4150. Or an Air Bell.
