Default 1st time 1/4"

Did my first 1/4" in my 99 camaro z28 auto

Was hoping for faster but think cars pulling well mostly down to lack of grip
spinning all through 1st and half way through 2nd
Was much worse with t/control on as it just kept cutting the power.

Not on a proper track was an concrete airfield event

best run was 13.86 @105mph

limited mods
slp lid, ramair element , free cold air, home ported t/body and magnaflow cat back, predator performance tune, 3.73 gears.

does this sound about right for the mods?
think it might have been slower with predator tune as spin is a lot worse than before.

congrats , you broke the seal !

and you will only improve so now you have a baseline to chip away from.

In good weather with better traction your car should crack 12's...first order of business get some drag radials on her it will improve your times , your consistency pass to pass , and be much safer/easier to keep pointed straight.

After that add a quality convertor in the 3500-4000 range ( Yank , Circle d , FTI, etc..)and it should run low to mid 12's. It really is that easy check the threads around here , drag radials and convertor will run 12's even stock , add in some bolt ons and the et's drop down through the 12's and even into the 11's is possible on bolt ons. You have already found out even mild bolt ons your not hooking without sticky tires and as you add more power it will get worse...

Wow didn't realise they were that quick..

I think not likely to get near on this track but hopefully can improve
would like to get under 13.4

Difficult to get stuff here like drag radials for sensible money

Just received my speedmaster 1 7/8 headers and y pipe
Will remove egr and air and cats at the same time

So hopefully will get these fitted for next time.. hopefully worth a few tenths

I have managed to find some toyo r888's to try for next time -they are a bit small but I have found them pretty good in the past on other cars would think will be better than goodyear f1's

cheers

My 2000 z28 went 13.38 with only a tire. No mods, or tune.

2nd time out - not a proper drag strip concrete airfield.

with toyo r888 this trime although bit small 245 50 16s
also now no air or egr

much better

average et 13.6-13.7sec spinning all through 1st but moving

had one better launch managed a 13.35 @105mph, not sure what I did differant I think I rolled slightly before giving it the beans..and it gripped much better

hopefully will have headers to try next

Aren't R888's road racing tires? A proper drag radial will help.
