Humbling first time out
My cleanest pass started with a bogging 2.039 60’ and ended with a 12.095 at 120.42 mph. The low rpm launch really hurt the time, but my slow and steady shifting didn’t help. I was able to get a 1.9 60’ later in the day, but then I missed 4th for the second time. Seriously, who misses 4th!? The other missed gear was obviously where I trapped 112.
Here are the slips and an embarrassing video for you all.

I'm considering dropping another 100 pounds. Just not sure how much I'm willing to sacrifice.

I'm guessing your engine puts out maybe 500, but the other 500 of that 1000ftlb hit comes from inertia being pulled out of it's rotating assy.
Reduce the clutch hit to around 750ftlbs and there would be less tendency to spin the radials, which would enable a higher rpm launch. The bog rate of the engine would also be roughly cut in half so the engine would also make more power thru the low point of the bog.
Basically the more closely the clutch hit is matched to the engine, the higher the launch rpm can be. Also the engine won't get drawn down as far, so it will make higher average power.
