His trap will gain simply from getting a better 60'. Something is holding it back out of the hole.
You really need to get either HPT or EFI and log the pass. You dont know if somethings happening during launch, or what your converter slip is on the top end which could also be the problem. My guess is either its not on all 8 cylinders, your converter is lousy, or something is off in the tune. I would also take a look at MAP on the big end and see if you have an intake restriction. I went 1.6x on an intake/exhaust stock LS1 with a 3200 stall.
the converter seems tight. It's a circle d 3600c that was a carry over from the ls1 setup which made much less torque.
After reviewing the video at .25 speed, I realized that the smoke at launch wasn't the car, but it seems to be the tires. That was a 1.79 pass. Clearly the car isn't hooking...

I watched that in slow motion myself and I just didn't see the rim break loose of traction and it has me wondering if the tires are rubbing on the inner fender well.
something was clearly smoking on that last video. i think you may be onto something.

There is a clenched fists worth of clearance between the tire and the quarter and there are no indications of rubbing.
A lot of smoke was coming from somewhere and it didn't look like it was coming from the exhaust. You should of been able to feel it, if it were spinning.
on that topic, is a 10.5 the biggest I can fit without hammering and cutting?
You can fit an 11.5 in if you remove the bump stops...but no need to. I run a 26x10.5 ET Street R bias and have 1.60 60’. Hooks hard but bias ply are more forgiving imo

With the 10.5's on and the rear end hanging the mounting point for the bump stops touch the inner walls of the tires. They can be ground down to clear where you could still run a bump stop if you wanted.

I'll do that, anything helps. I am coming to the conclusion that one: shocks aren't set right and that just takes time to dial in, I don't have enough gear in the car and if I'm changing gear I'm changing tires too.

changing the gear from 3.73 to 391 or even 4.10 isnt going to net you much at all if any. here in N.C. cars with upper 400 rwhp trap mid to deep 120s. idk how much your elevation hurts you.

DA here is bad, everything is slower. The gear change will be to compensate for the rear tire size if I go to 28s. I think There is some tweaking I can do but with this converter I may only be capable of a 1.7 60 MAYBE a 1.6. But...this converter would love some spray. a 150 shot would wake it up, then i can leave the converter and gear alone and just do tires and nitrous and dial in suspension more. There are a few avenues of growth here.

Have you called Circle D and talked to them about the 60' ?
id try to figure out where that smoke was coming from. didn't look exhaust related
if the converter is indeed that tight, it would be a monster on spray.

circle d said if I want to stay NA I could restall for a 4c or 5c. I think the smoke was tires for sure. I need the front to come up harder, recheck all my suspension measurements, pinion angle, then try again. I'll likely need a drag bar as well. Also, I believe I will keep the gears and verter, put a 28 in the back and spray it with 150. This should be perfect for that
Update: put a 28 hoosier bracket radial on the car and made no other changes. Took it to the track at 5700 DA and it ran a 12.0. I turned the front shocks down to 15c 0R and rears to 12C 14R and it turned into a whole new car. Cut a 1.59 60 and ran an 11.3 @ 119 mph. Still more in it before I hit the bottle.
