Default Why is the E/T Slow?

I went to the drag strip with my little brother, he has a 98 Camaro A4 2.73s. Some SE 1.75 Longtubes, y pipe, SLP LM2, LS6 Intake, Ported throttle body, 25% UDP, and an SSRA. Car still has the stock converter and is on some 245 Toyos. DA at the track was about 1100ft and we were kind of expecting if the car could hook it should run bottom 13s or high 12s. Well it didn't.
Best pass 13.3023 @ 109.84 with a 2.03 60ft. Now it has good mph, and considering the stock converter and 245 all-seasons, 60ft isn't terrible, didn't spin at all actually. I feel like his E/T is low. My car back when it had headers, LS6 intake, and a ported throttle body ran 13.12 @ 105.71 with a 2.07 60ft. at the same track. So with his mph and better 60ft I figured it'd go into the 12s, but no matter what it didn't improve. It actually got slower as the night cooled off. Even with 30-45 minute cooldowns between runs.
He really needs a good converter, but that's not in his wallet right now as he's in high school, so maybe around summer time that'll happen.

Had a similar setup once. Drop the tire psi down to 25 out back. Build it up as much as it will hold on the starting line. That should get you there. It’s all in the 60’ with this combo. Mine wouldn’t spin at all with this setup and I ran a 12.89. That was with 50 degree weather and dry air though.

Every car is different. Seems on par for the mods.

I agree, especially a 2.73 car with a stock converter.... those shift extensions are just brutal

Thanks guys, the one time I took it down the track, made me remember how bad the shift extensions really are. Converter needed ASAP and I think he'll go 12s easily.

a Yank 3600 & some good tires would easily put him in the 12s

I went from 12.89 to 12.29 with a FTI 4000 and ER street radials on 2.73s. The converter is a game changer. Swap the 2.73s to 4.10s and I ran high 11s.

Back in 2000, I had a 98 TA a4 2.73 car. Only thing done was a hypertech programmer that I only raised the Rev limiter to 6500 or 6600. In good air it ran 13.0@ 108mph. Completely stock In heat of the summer it ran consistent 13.5s@105mph track was roughly 400ft elevation.

This for sure. A stall and gears away from 12's no problem.
