How not to run the 1/8
hey guys, just wondering how horrible i fugged this up at the track tonight. went out to Lakeland Dragstrip(1/8 Mile). it was about 81F outside at 9:30 P.M. im on almost bald F1's and no mods whatsoever. my best timeslip looked like this:
Reaction ---- 0.672
60 Ft. ---- 2.445
MPH ---- 84.59
ET ---- 9.261
just wondering how good/bad that was. my 60ft. sucked so bad but i couldnt get a decent launch for anything. Any tips on launching stock would be appreciated. but i did hammer 2nd and 3rd so shifting isnt a factor here, i've dragged for awhile now and i shift pretty damn good. just wondering if at 81 degrees and in FL humidity if that time is any good??? also what do most 01-02 ls1's do stock?? 1/8 and 1/4??? thanks, Ryan

For what its worth a 9.261 1/8 mile would put you right at a 14.4 1/4 mile. There is deffinately a lot of room for improvement. I assume you have a manual transmission. Try feathering the clutch out of the hole, or you may want to invest in some drag radials.
Most stock LS1 fbodies run in the 13.5-13.8 realistically. That would put you at 8.7 to 8.8 in the 1/8 mile.

The weather will definitely slow you down, but so will those the tires. I've got F1's on my car. I've only raced it 6 times and my slowest 60' was 2.28, so I'd say your launch is your biggest concern right now. Don't drive through the water and burnout your F1's, it's only making it worse. Good Luck.

Do a search on M6 launch techniques. It's all there. The rest is just shifting.
Your technique will change according to your tire.
Drag Radials are your friend.
