First Nitrous Runs... Damn That Was Fun!!!!
Well, finally got everything installed and tuned, so I waited all of 3 days to hit the track
Headed up to Cordova for some TnT Friday night. They were having the AMC Nationals, so they had the track prepped real nice. Air was great, too (~ 800' DA). Only bad thing was a direct 10mph head wind...
First run off the bottle with the nitrous tune gave me a 11.69 @ 119. Oops, forgot to set my shocks and wheel hopped all over the place (ok, driving 130 miles each way, and I forget one little thing ). No problem, set the shocks and made another pass off the bottle. Track was so sticky that when I launched at 5500rpm, it stood up, then bogged HARD. Missed third gear too, so I didn't even get a time out of it
At that point, my hopes weren't real high for my first shot at the nitrous. Figured I was only going to get one run anyway, so no pressure or anything
Took 35 minutes to get from the staging lanes to the line; did a nice burnout, staged, and... found out that someone had broken down on the track, so I had a 10 minute delay...
Pretty much the equivalant of "icing" the kicker in football... Had plenty of time to sit there and think about everything I could do wrong. Then I finally got my shot, here's the slip:
1.498 60ft
6.833 1/8 ET
99.84 1/8 MPH
10.67 1/4 ET
129.58 1/4 MPH
Best 60' NA had been a 1.56, so saying it felt strong off the line was an understatement. Keep in mind this was on 26x11.5x16 ET Streets, which were definitely not tall enough to carry me through the traps. Also, no purge before the launch to give me .1 or .2 to hook up.
To my surprise, they didn't kick me out, so I went back around for another pass. This time I brought the pressure up to 1050psi, revved it up to 6000rpm and dropped that b!tch. Thought I got kicked in the back by a mule...
1.429 60ft
6.708 1/8 ET
101.35 1/8 MPH
10.53 1/4 ET
128.62 1/4 MPH
To say I was ecstatic would be an understatement!!!!!!!!!
Nitrous cut off at the 1000' mark (6700rpm), but I kept my foot in it and got through the traps off the spray at 7000rpm (rev limiter @ 7200 ).
Since it was taking an hour per pass at this point and it was already around 11pm, I decided to call it a night (still had a 130 mile drive ahead of me).
Unbolted the slicks, threw the street tires back on, and drove it home.
Car probably had a 10.4 in it without too much trouble, and probably a 10.2 with 28" ET Drags, although I gotta admit, I never expected the 26" ET Streets to get me out with a 1.42 60', especially with the stock rear sway bar and panhard!!
That was fun
Lemme know what you think!!!

Thanks, guys!!!
Yeah, I was a little worried about the 6000rpm dump on the spray, but I figured what the hell, you only live once
Think it helped by not purging... gave me a couple tenths to hook up and get moving before the nitrous hit.

That first run I brushed the limiter on each shift, too. Just didn't realize it was gonna rev that fast!! Second run was pretty clean, but it really kept me shifting

Thanks again, guys! Think that's the most fun you can have for $15... at least legally
That makes two of us... pretty sure the wife wouldn't have come to get me, so I'd have been sleeping in my car at the track

Fine job paul. What did it dyno? (not that it matters...)

It showed a consistent 20% difference from the dynojet on motor (333rwhp on the Mustang to 417 rwhp on the DynoJet), and on the spray it put down 438rwhp. If you figure in the 20% difference, I picked up an honest 135-140 rwhp on the 150 shot, so I'm guessing it would have put down 550 rwhp on a DynoJet.

As soon as I can afford a 12-bolt, I'll be right there along with ya. Until then, I have to rely on stories from people like you. I can't wait to pull wheels!!
btw: do you have a driveshaft loop, aftermarket driveshaft? If you don't, I can't believe that bastard didn't twist on you launching like that. Good God!

Judging from the times you're running at a 3000'+ DA, you should see some great numbers!!!!
