Default 130 MPH in the 1/4?!?!

A friend and I were talking about his R1 and my R6. We then ventured into wondering how much RWHP/RWTQ it would take a LS1 Z28 M6 to go 130 MPH in the 1/4 mile. We aren't really looking into ET's just the MPH. His R1 went 131 stock in the 1/4.

So we are curious to see how much RWHP/RWTQ out of a M6 it would take to hang with this on the highway.

Oh and another thing. We also are going to have to factor in weight. So lets throw this out there. Say the car has these specs.

01 Z28:
M6
Leather
Power windows and locks
T-Tops

So the car is not a "stripper" car. Not sure what the car would weigh in at. So maybe what would one of these cars weigh also?

So maybe I should rephrase this.

What would an a car with the above specs have to put down RWHP/RWTQ wise and have to weigh in at with the car having the options above to run a 130 MPH in the 1/4 or hang with an R1 on the highway that runs around 131ish in the 1/4?

i hope i didnt confuse you guys.

thanks in advance,
Josh

P.S. I didn't know which forum this should go in so i just put it in here. Maybe this should be in another forum, maybe its in the right spot. If i should be moved I am sorry for the inconvience that I have caused. Thanks again.

Well, if your racewieght is about 3500lbs, your going to have to make about 600rwhp to run that mph.

If you drop that wieght into the 3200lbs range you could probrably do it with about 550rwhp.

I trapped 130 mph, actually 129.72 or some **** like that, with 617 rwhp and a 3795 race weight. What year are these bikes?? So Ill know which ones I can mess with.

what was the weather like when your friend trap 131mph. what was the temp and humidity? weather and DA is a big factor.

SMOKIN01TA went 130.19 making 442rwhp and weighing 3150 in with a -1200DA. i bet a car weighing 3600lbs making 510rwhp could trap 130mph with a -1200 DA.

another thing, 131 for a R1 is nothing. most cars here trapping 130mph are pretty muched topped out crossing the line at the track. so if a Fbody was racing a R1 from a roll and they both trapped 131...id say the R1 would still pull because its top speed is way higher. if they went from 0-130mph then it would be a race.

I'd say between 475-550 rwhp, it depends on the combo and weight (power-adder cars usually make more rwhp than the et may indicate). A buddy's car runs 10.40s at 128 mph with 470 rwhp at 3400 lbs.

necrocannibal:
His bike is an 01 model. My R6 only trapped a 122. now he has a exhuast(just slip on pipe, not full header) and a Jet kit. But he only runs 128ish now. There is a dead spot in the power band, and we cant figure it out.

30th T/A:
Im not sure what the EXACT temp. was that night. But we both got to run our bikes 33 times down the track. It was like we were on a circle track. lol. The track was Thunder Valley in Noble, Oklahoma. Im not sure of their elevation but it was a nice night out. www.okthunder.com is their website incase you can maybe find it on there.

Well we decided to see what we can do.

I just bought an 01 Z28 M6 with leather, T-tops, and power windows locks. Also I ordered some parts to see if we can get this car to hang with his R1.

AFR 205's
TSP "Magic Stick" Cam
Pacesetter LT's
TSP Rumbler X
ASP pulley
TSP lid w/ K&N
Ram clutch
Ram billet flywheel
12 bolt
drive shaft
*Tunning by TSP*

we will see how close this will get us. Im thinking this will be close with the R6. Just wondering what power adder and how much of a power adder will be needed to hang with the R1.

Ill post up the results as soon as I get the car done. Im hoping to know here in a few weeks. Just depends how long TSP will have the car for the H/C install and tunning.

,
Josh

I hope you are right. I am going to try and get some videos of the races for everyone to view.

I will be picking up the car this week or weekend. After I get it im looking into taking it to TSP as soon as they have time to install and tune the new setup. I hope they have time next week . If so then ill be all the way home!!!!

LETS GO BIKE HUNTING!!!

See what the Z traps first before adding all the mods. If it is at 108-109, that H/C set up you got with a 100-150 shot of nitrous should be well over 130.

If you are in a car you don't need to trap as high of mph as a bike in the quarter mile to be able to pull one on the highway.

Why do you say that? Aerodynamics? From what some people have told me is that bikes are extremely bad on aerodynamics and this kills them in the highway races.

confused,

Default Update!!!!

I will be picking the car up this weekend!! I will do an oil changed and check out the car for any other maintance that needs to be done. I will then go run it at the track and maybe even dyno it to see where we are at first. Then the car will be going to Texas Speed in Texas for all the work. I wish I could do the some of the work but since im new to this LS1 thing and Im still going to OU and finals are coming up I will just have to have them do it all. No worries though.

Ill keep everyone posted on how she acts before and after she comes back from the speed doctors.

off to class,
Josh

Hope you plan on suspension and slicks or M/T Drag radials so you can actually plant that power. Looks like a hot setup!.

PS, what did the R6 do for ET? Buddy of mine has an 01 R6 also with just the exhaust(just the pipe, not header) and that's it.
