Wheel to Wheel sponsor GM, Ford Late model shootout at Milan Dragway

WHEEL TO WHEEL POWERTRAIN AND MILAN DRAGWAY ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR A GM, FORD LATE MODEL SHOOTOUT IN SEPTEMBER 2005

Madison Heights, MI – On April 8, 2005 Wheel to Wheel Powertrain and Milan Dragway announced plans for the inaugural GM, Ford Late Model Shootout. The event scheduled for September 2nd 2005 will be hosted by Milan Dragway, in Milan, MI. It will be a unique class sponsored by Wheel to Wheel Powertrain during the Team Z Motorsports Friday Night Heads Up Street Car Shootout. The Friday Night Shootout is a monthly event featuring a 10.5 All motor class sponsored by Wheel to Wheel Powertrain and a 10.5 Outlaw class sponsored by Holbrook Racing Engines.

Wheel to Wheel Powertrain currently builds engines for several race teams competing in the LS-1 Tech Outlaw Modified class. “We have several customers who race very fast LS-1 cars and live in the Midwest. We want to give them a chance to compete near home. We feel that combining the class with the already successful Friday Night Heads Up Shootout at Milan is a great opportunity for them to do that.” says Kurt Urban Director of Operations and Special Projects for Wheel to Wheel Powertrain. Essentially the rules for the class are the same as those being used in the LS-1Tech.com Outlaw Modified class, the major exception is the inclusion of the Ford modular motor. “We are not sure if any Fords will enter the event, but we are hopeful that at least one will come. If the class is successful as a whole, we will purse doing it again next year, maybe by then we can add the new HEMI to the class” says Brad Shantry Performance Product Development Manager for Wheel to Wheel Powertrain.

The winner of this inaugural class event will receive an $800 purse, and the runner up will receive a $200 purse. The race format will be a single elimination bracket with a qualifying session to establish bracket seeds. The technical rules are described in detail below. Gates open at 3:00 PM, qualifying and racing are scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM respectively.
