Default 13.8s with my mods?

Last weekend I ran at Piedmont in Julian, NC, which is an 1/8th mile, and ran a best 9.06 @ 83mph.

Today, Carolina F-body went down to Fayetteville Motorsports Park for Test-N-Tune.

Conditions: 95 degrees outside and a headwind from the end of the track towards the staging lanes.

This time, I got timeslips, best-to-worst:

Reaction - .6955

330ft - 5.9660
1/8 - 9.0324 @ 81.17mph
1/4 - 13.8162@103.71mph

Now, I know weather conditions have been rather shitty on the days that I've been at the track, but what the hell gives? 9.0s and 13.8s with my mods? I mean, I know there's 2-3 10ths in the 60ft. if I got drag radials, but STILL...

The only thing I can figure is the car just isn't what it used to be because of the mileage. It's been very well taken care of and I'm the first owner to race it, but it does have over 102k miles. Maybe the motor's just getting worn-n-tired? I dunno, I guess I just expected to run low 13s and mid 8s with my mods.

you just need to work on ur 60 time and im sure those longtubes will help maybe some lower control arms to take away the wheel hop

yep, plus the air doesn't help either. There's a 13.50 time in the car with a good hook and a 2.0 60 foot time, not to mention the air getting cooler as the year winds down. Keep at it, and you'll get the times down!

I'm on some half-tread KDWS 245/50/16 tires at 28psi and my friend Rick, who drives a 427BB IROC logged his runs and the track was at 138 degrees when we all ran. Just a tad bit warm, eh?

I was expecting 13.3-4 with current mods and low-low 13s with LTs and a dynotune, maybe a 12 with a good hook and good weather. I guess the high mileage is winding the performance on down LOL.

BTW, I thought 2.2 is pretty good hook on street tires? I don't wanna run DRs/slicks because fear of killin' the 10 bolt.

I've seen people get 2.0 on street tires but it requires practice, and I understand your fear of the 10-bolt not living long. You can always put a girdle/cover on it for a little more support.

I think I need to try slip-dumping at a lower RPM and try to eliminate some of the spinning. It's just a bitch to try to launch at low RPMs cause the car wants to bog down below 1500rpms. Oh well, practice makes perfect LOL.

your car is stock and the mods are minimial what do you expect? one the humidity here at fayetteville is bad and it is really hot. two it rained earlier that day and the track prep was horrible. your car is fine just try it on a better day.

Well since most stock auto LS1s run 13.8 and I have some bolt-ons with an M6, yeah, I expected more LOL.

Were you the one driving the silver 4th-gen Firebird?
