I had built the engine to run in a tech class. When it was not able to do that, I borrowed this car from a friend to test the limits of the engine. The engine has some head gasket problems but overall has been durable. Looks like it is going to need rings, but it has all my dyno testing and runs on the first set.

Kurt,

As i remember Casper with the 650 inch BBC and the Liberty went a best of a 6.7x or a 6.8x @ 205-207 mph correct? I know it was heavy (the rules were back then) but wasnt sure how it compares in raceweight today. I still admired the way mike sprayed both kits through one annular nozzle.. Very cool!!

Do some research...You'll be hard pressed to find a car in the 6's that isn't a full tube car.

Nice times guys-it was pretty obvious to me that the car had some 6's in it after that blistering 1/8mile et/mph on your previous best of 7.4x@150.

Now the question remains: Are we going to have a series to race cars like this in? Or do we want to exclude all of the other competitors b/c they don't have an ls1/lt1?

Phil your memory sounds good. Mike set some amazing goals for this car in its day, and then did them!

This car was never made to run in any series. The engine was originally designed for M/S power adder in the Tech/Thunder series.
I borrowed this car to test the engine's limits to boost and power. This was the first try at this level, the next should be better.

Can I ask a dumb question, how'd she get the name Casper? I'm just curious on a little history of the car as I don't know the history of it.

The car was plain white when Mike picked it up. When he showed up at the first race at Gateway with the NA engine in and the plain paint, one of the guys said it looked like a ghost. Then Brian Ottems called it "Casper" the friendly ghost. Steve Grebeck then had a sticker made for the decklid, it was Casper with a evil grin flying and under that was "Watch me disappear"

Around the end of 97 I think, Mike bought two dart blocks with special deck heights made for him. He had a strange hardening process done that included bringing the block up to around 800F for a certain amount of time. One of the blocks had the main machine work done and the block was ruined. In the process of heating it up the caps and block distorted , and the main bores on the block grew oversize.. Mike did not have alot of money so I took that main bore out to a pontiac size then made sleeves to bring the block side down to BB chevy. Then bored mains with new caps to std BB chevy size. Mike assembled that engine and we ran it on the dyno. The first block that was undamaged made just shy of 1300hp W/O nitrous, this engine was named Brutus. The second engine with the hurt mains made over 1300hp and was a little faster than Brutus when it was in the car. The biggest race of the year was in Memphis so the second engine went in for the first time and was named Elvis because it's debut was in Memphis.

When we put my little 352 gen3 in the car, I thought it only right to name that engine "Lisa Marie". It is a great little engine that will really sing!

Cool man, definately sounds like she's got some history behind her. And that's pretty cool how she got the name.

So Kurt, you were around back when Moran was running N/A and then Nitrous? Did you have any part in the switch to a turbo motor?

Mike and I go way back to when he was racing a Pinto station wagon with a 302 2 barrel. We did the Quad turbo headers and cold side plumbing and intercooler on Casper at W2W.
All the engine machine work was done at my shop before I started working for W2W. Now all Mike's machine work is done at W2W.

Does what qualify as an LS1? If your talking about the motor that is in "Casper" then the answer is yes. 6.0 liter block with AFR "LS1" heads.
