I've driven my buddy's 350z after we did a header install. Quick... and smooth, but nowhere near ls1 quickness. I'd say that a stock f-body should run at least 7 tenths quicker than a stock 350z, assuming a halfway decent driver.

Thanks for the props, I'll just have to wait until we get some decent weather up here and escort him down the track at Woodburn or something.

Update: no 1/4 runs yet, but (I don't condone this and it was a lucky opportunity though) we were both leaving work at the same time. Got on the freeway. Agreed on 4th gear roll-on from 60. I was turning 2800 and he was turning 3350ish. He got a drop on his hammer first so I'd know to go, within 3 seconds I had one car length on him and had to shift into 5th too quick, he was still building up the rpm range, at shifting i topped out at 115, he said he was doing 120 when his power kicked in and blazed a length ahead of me. Gotta say I felt good that I had some power to pull, just got to make sure I've got to get the launch right.

Hah PM me when you go to Woodburn. This should not be a race in any sense of the imagination. I don't know why people think 350z's are quick??????????? That and he can't turn off traction control.

In a heads up race from a roll, stop, in reverse with equal drivers the Z28 will crush the 350z. That said 350's are sweet cars

The Z should crush it, and 350's are great cars.....but what do you mean "he can't turn off traction control"???????.....cause yes you can

Before I bought the Z06 I just sold I was going looking at G35's they didn't have any 6spds so I test drove a sport version of the 350z with the 6spd and brembos etc. It was frustrating because from a dig the Traction control would kick in this was probably and 04-05 model but we went back and the service guys said it couldn't be turned off. That ended any chance of me buying the car. Which I'm glad I didn't the Z06 is a MUCH better buy!

Agreed, you can turn it off, and believe me, he always leaves it off

If it wasnt for that flowmaster muffler I would think you'd win easily

J/K I think you should take him fairly easily

Thanks Chrispy lol, I like the classy sound it makes though, after my settlement from when I got hit before Xmas (RIP my old camaro), I'm going to take about 6-700 and do a true dual setup with some SLP high flow cats and big series mufflers, I'll just have to try and keep my foot out of it at all costs on the street. And yeah, since me and my roomie are a couple of car dorks, and i was curious to see what I was up against, I wanted to see what kind of roll-on he had from 4th gear at 60 mph. 4th took me up to 120 on the clock (perhaps 110-115) and then I had to shift into 5th. He claimed he wasnt making any power until I had to shift, then his car began to pull back. I have no doubts this guy can race, he's an experienced AutoX'r up at PIR and knows how to drive (even when he's not suppose to ) We might be doing PIR 93LT1 but I'd like to do Woodburn and try and stay away from all of the little Honda guys as much as possible, especially when they all get off work from the Bell at 9 pm and come drive the cooler cars out of the place.

I raced a 350z with my 04 GTO and had him for breakfast lunch and dinner on the street. This was a roll race starting at 40 mphs and I gave him the jump. So, you should have no problem with the Z.

Thanks for the encouragement, I finally bought a helmet last week at a killer deal, so now I can at least go race if I want to. FYI, this last Saturday he went 13.8 at 101, I would've gone but I have to work for a living.

Ok, my roommate has a 04 350z. Best he could run was a 14.5 @ 98. I then drove it and hit 14.2x @ 101 . Only mods are K&N drop in, cold air intake mod, and we cut the 40 lbs resonator off the back (so it now has 1 exhaust tip - its a work in progress). It was 55 degs outside and his tires are crap (he got it used, and the org. owner sucked). I think after we work on it somemore and get the temps up it will do 13.5-7 range. I have heard of Zs doing 13.2, but after lots more work.

And for the cost a f-body with less in mods will eat those. Put it this way any exhaust for the 350 is near $1000. And thats just a catback (and why we are fabbing up our own).

The 350Z sounds good, feels quick, but then you see the times, it just looks quick. Its a looker and hard to get lots of power out of easily.

My brother has a 98 z28 A4 and ran:

60 ft - 1.963
594 ft - 7.919
1/8 et - 8.405
1/8 mph - 92.61
1/4 et - 12.816
1/4 mph - 110.28

On a 65 deg day, with no traction.

With these Mods - EB LT Drag Headers with Y-pipe, No Cats, Jet Stage 2 Chip, Cold Air with K&N, flowmaster Catback, Shift Kit, 160 thermo

Even stock my brother ran 13.3-4 range at 105+.

You will win - period.

I raced one from a dig on the street (so-so traction for both of us) and just absolutely O-Bliterated him. He had been talking so much crap too, it was awesome.

Honestly, I took my car through the top of 3rd gear and was at least 10 cars ahead. And I watched him leave too...

I was still mostly stock then, with a flowmaster (I know, g'head and laugh!) and a lid and not much else. Tires were crap so I had to EASE off the line. Sounded like he did a drop from about 2200-2400 and semi-bogged then came on pretty hard, but that was about all I heard.

Good luck, should be a whoopin on your part!

i raced one when all my car had was slp catback and i left the traction control on. he had full exauhst underdrive pullys and a tune and he also had a big wing and that alone is worth like 50 rwhp right jk but i raced him at a stop light and by the time i hit 3rd i had 6 cars or more on him. if you lose you should just go sell you car. good luck but you should not need it!

Huh, where are you getting your numbers from? At this site i'm reading 330+ rwhp with the twin turbo kit: http://350tt.com/tt_kits/greddy/

Car's slow as ***** as far as i've seen. They handle well, but by no means are they as quick as the twin turbo 300ZX's of the past.
