Default In the 7's in the 1/8th

I Went to the track today. 1/8th mile IHRA track. I ran a 7.96 with a 1.72 60' time. I was fairly happy with this with just boltons and converter. Now i have to figure out what to add next for a few more tenths. I know i need an intake, LS6, maybe valve trane? Any suggestions?

Don't see headers mentioned. I think I would go with them next. Should get you a couple tenths, and then get a custom tune. Those would probably net you some good gains for your time. Later you could always do more but the headers will be a key part to a good foundation! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice, No i do not have headers yet, I just installed the LM1 system a couple of weeks ago. I also have the stock Y pipe and Cats. I want to keep it streetable also for weekend drives/blasts. Any particular brand header and Long tube/Mid tube? I know a couple of boltons i may do is the LS6 intake and Upgraded SLP MAF.

can't go wrong with coated pacesetter headers...should put you in the 7.6/7.7 area after a tune.

Thanks again, ran again tonight 7.93 but then messed with the tune and slowed to 8.0, set shift points too high. I Will look into the headers.

Hmmm.. Curious as to what your shift points are set at? I have pretty much same setup as your running; 3600 stall and 3:73.1 gears. My best run last season was an 8.16@ 85mph that was on a 3000 tci and stock gears.

I started out last year trying to shift up high 6300 rpm. Then the more i read that our peak hp is around 5700 or so i started lowering the points keeping a couple of 100 rpm extra over. I think i have them set at 6000 now and i get just get into 3rd gear before the traps which must have helped.

Yes i know i need headers, I just put the LM1 on this year for now. Its a work in progress. I must have been lucky and got a good motor.

Very nice, I am running 8.0xs in the 1/8th right now. I have lid and dynomax bullet muffler dumped. Stock manifolds and Y piping like you. I am on stock stall on stock sized street tires though (245 kumho ecsta) best was 8.056@87.7 with a 1.904 60'. My best 60' was a 1.899 on the tires stated above. 3.73s too by the way. You have your car tuned yet? Just got mine done today and I was runing rich so I picked up 11 WHP and 20 lbs tq. Going out tomorrow so I will see how it goes, might try some drag radials too, but first going to see what it will do on street tires. Keep up the good work!

That is great on street tires. I did not get dyno'd/tuned yet. I am probobly rich as i increased the fuel 3% when it was cool. I should set it back now that summer is here. I would be interesting to get a dyno/tune as i am probobly leaving some on the table. I am running MT ET Streets so i should be faster. They are taller than stock. They say 26 inch but if i have 16 pounds they are about 28 inches tall. I know my 2000 with the LS1 intake is huring me and need headers. Let me know how you run. It looks like rain tomorrow so i'm not sure if we are running
