Default Still no 11 second slip

I went out to Ubly today for the test and tune and it was a really good turnout, lots of nice cars and great racing. Anyways I've been having problems with my H/C setup for as long as I can remember and I had just got the car running after chasing down some electrical issues. I still hadn't changed my injectors because of no time for tuning but heres what I managed.

1st pass
60' 1.75
1/8 7.73
1/8 mph 90.03
1/4 12.10
1/4 mph 113.84

2nd pass
60' 1.67
1/8 7.78
1/8 mph 88.04
1/4 12.24
1/4 mph 111.80

3rd pass
60' 1.70
1/8 7.71
1/8 mph 89.32
1/4 12.12
1/4 mph 112.70

4th pass
60' 1.76
1/8 7.87
1/8 mph 88.20
1/4 12.32
1/4 mph 112.02

My mph seems quite low to me and it seemed like the car lost a mph or two when it got warmer from sitting in the staging lanes hence the best ET on my first run. The temp was probably 70 with little to no humidity and I'm not at a high elevation here in Michigan. Will I ever see an 11 second slip with this combo or will I lose my mind first?

Don't feel bad man, because I've been having the same problem since last Dec.

I'm not far from you et and mph wise. Last week, I only ran a best 12.0 @ 113, 1.70 60', 1/8 7.66 @ 90. This is with h/c (tsp tv2 & 5.3s), 3400 stall, 3.73s, tuning and shifting at 65-6700. I'm not gonna even discuss what it ran on n20. I've changed converters, tuners, heads and cam, but only seemed to gain 3 mph from the heads alone. This was in 70- degree weather with about 70% humidity though. I'm thinking about reinstalling my tci 3800 since I've changed my setup to put me in the powerband I need to be.

Where are you shifting at? Timing? A/f?

Yep thats my new best and to be honest I was happy and had a great time at the track and loved the adrenaline rush from dead hooking. I'm just looking for some helpful feedback on what if anything may be lacking in my combo. A friend of mine with a bolt-on auto with a stock stall ran 110mph all day.

As for shift points I believe they are set at 6200 or so but with the extension from the converter it shifts at 6500. Timing and A/f I have no idead because I didn't have HPtuners with me. You still on stock injectors Shortdog? I know mine are maxed out and that could be hurting me a little.

Yeah I'll have to double check on those shift points as I know they are decent but I don't think my tuner wanted to push it too far as the 98s have shitty rod bolts. I'm in the process of buying a 9" off of a coworker its got 3.73s in it and a locker so that will be very soon just gotta get a bit more cash.

Was the car temp that much different from pass to pass? It just seems the 60 foot is bouncing around a bit, and should be more consistent than that. Is it spinning, are you launching at the same rpm, etc?

I'd say the car has 11s in it, just need to get it to work all together for one clean pass.

The car temp was high on the second and third pass due to waiting in line a lot and having the car running (180 on first 200 on second and 3rd). I still have the stock T stat in and I have to install this 160 I have lying around, I think my car could run a bit cooler but even on the first pass I'm only trapping 3mph higher than a bolt-on car?

As for my 60's they were my best ever. The car pretty much dead hooked but I tried different stall rpms on the initial launch then hammered it down. My first pass I eased into the throttle and the second I just nailed it. Third pass I tried higher stall and fourth I lowered the pressure to 22lbs and launched harder but it spun a little.

You want to give the converter a chance to flash and not push the car from the beams. Temps will definately affect the times. MPH on the first hit combined with the second 60 foot would net you easy 11.90s.

Not anymore. My stockers were also maxed out (110+ duty cycle). I now have 42lb injectors, but that didn't help any performance wise.

With the 4000 stall you have, you should be 60' in the 1.6s, but that's traction/weather permitting. Do you have any suspension work done?

my suspension is completely stock with the exception of SFCs and I use 245 MT Drag radials on salad shooters. The way the track was hooking for me I would have liked to do a few more passes launching off idle and going WOT immediately to take full advantage of that 2.6str but I had other things to do that day. I still don't think my 60's were bad but the car falls flat once its out of the hole it seems. Other H/C cars run mid 11s with similar setups at way more mph.

Raise the shift points to at least 6800. I shift my stock internal car at 6450 with the stock valvetrain and run 11.70s in +1600 DA. My last car was a 2000 (had the shitty rod bolts as well) and I shifted that at 7000 with no problems for over two seasons. Also, get the new injectors in and have it tuned right.

Now thats some nice pics. Jeff, If you had 3.73's, you'd hit the 11's. But, as a daily driver, its going to hurt with gas prices.

3.73s are on the way, gas millage isn't a priority with this one lol. Personally I don't see why the car couldn't hit them as it sits though. Might be the tune, did your dad ever run his before and after it was retuned or have any dyno numbers ect?

No. After waisting 4 trannies in 19k (all due to Sean), he turned it in and got a new 08' Convertible. With headers, intake and tune. It just put down 441/429.

Check it out. He's pretty happy

I dropped off the car today to have the new injectors installed and to have it retuned, the new guy is HIGHLY recommended and only 5 miles away from my house I've seen many of his cars and they all run flawlessly and very fast. Hope to have it back by tomorrow and hit the track next week or two. Gotta have that 11 second slip.
