Skiba ran 12.99 @ 105.97 with a 1.96 60 foot. Stock converter, e-fans, CAI, !muffler, tune and some weight reduction back in September at GLD. DA was like -200 or something.

Yah he did, very cool but I'm not willing to do that kind of weight reduction. Actually I'm not going to delete any torque management I don't want to have to rebuild the transmission in the fall. But a 13.3 truck with CAI, tune, ported OEM TB, e-fans and maybe some exhaust works sounds good to me.

I'd say those times are respectable for a 4-door SUV. They are nice daily-drivers, I probably should have gotten one of those instead of my gas-hog diesel Chevy. I miss my Dodge diesel trucks now.

Go ahead and mod it, consider this your stock baseline.

2WD actually. That other guy who was at the track had an AWD, and was able to just stomp on gas off the line and was only cutting 2.dohs... I was gradually getting into the gas but was only able to cut 2.15's because the track was sloppy. I think on a better track I could easily figure out how to go low 2.dohs.

My 07 diesel gets way better mileage than my 2wd TBSS on the highway, city they are about the same. TBSS is a premium only gas pig, has a 4.10 gear or something, thats what gives it the oomph off the line.

If I had to choose between either I'd keep the diesel, and I dont really like diesels, but then again the diesel cost nearly twice as much new and you could buy a lot of mods and 93 unleaded for the price difference.

You could always go out and buy an SRT Jeep, they run mid 13s stock and are some serious gas pigs

My TB sits at 2500 a lot on the highway if I'm cruising, and LSx's don't get good gas mileage at that rpm. I don't recall what they get but it's not great.

I dont know exactly what he had taken out, I know jack, muffler delete, spare, trailer hitch but I'm not sure what else.

Trans is going to **** no matter what if you beat it often, its a roll of the dice it seems with these. I just shut the TM off at the track to see what would happen, a tenth in the 1/8 is quite a bit. I'll order a decent trans before I even start modding for ETs. Overall its been a decent little truck though, I like it..

I get around 15-16mpg on the highway with the TBSS, rpm is up there for sure. Fuel efficient it isnt, I could probably fool with the tune a little and up that mileage, its pretty rich at cruise.

I have an 08 and get around 15.7 around town. Haven't had the chance to check a highway trip yet. Mine cruises more around 2k-2100 but that is around 65-70.

I have a buddy with an 06 and he only runs 87 in his. I'm sure it cuts the HP down by about 20 or so but if you are not racing all of the time, it might be an option other than running 93. He has had no problems and really dogs on his too...he just didn't want to pay for the 93. My dealership also told me that you "can" run 87 in it if you want. With that being said, I pay for the 93. To me its not worth saving a couple of bucks just to get the 87. I mean 22 gallons of 87@3.66=80.52. 22 gallons of 93@3.86=84.92. I think I can spare that 4.50 to have peace of mind.

The thing about the diesels is the ability to get 20mpg driving or you can get 20 mpg pulling 6000lbs...I don't haul anything any more so I decided on the TBSS. I love the truck. I haven't had it to the track yet, but the 08s are down 5hp over the 07s, 390hp in the 08s.

Mine spark knocks like a bitch on 87, it will pull the timing but IMO its better to just put 93 in it. Its not THAT much more money, you would be silly buying a 400hp SUV for the fuel mileage I only get around 12-13mpg around town, but its mostly stop and go and idling. I use the throttle like its meant to be most of the time and thats what costs you..

Exactly. And the funny thing is the guy is rich, so money is not an issue. Like I said, I put 93 in mine because I feel the same way you do. His doesn't have any knock issues that I know of. I haven't scanned it myself, so I am just goin by what he says.

I think he also took the seats out and the AC, but they are still pretty heavy even with all of that out.

'

From John's post on tbss site
Weight reduction. !AC, !front sway bar, !seats (except drivers of course), replaced rear carpet with with lightweight carpet.

I didn't have time to cut off the tow hitch or switch to a lighter battery.

Mods: ADM Efran, ADM 4" MAF, Self Tune, Self custom CAI, UD, 160 Thermo, TR6's, mygoatbites ported TB

100% stock tranny (20.5K miles on it) and 100% stock TCM program.

I did however have over quarter tank of gas and I'm no lightweight compared to most of you guys myself.

So thats what it had still flies but he is nuts for taking out the air. Should be quicker now with converter.

I actually removed everything in our tbss to rerun the ps2 wires and speaker wires.
Pass. Seat (non-power) 65#'s
Driver seat (power) 95#'s
rear seat (lower) both were like 30#'s
rear seat back was 100#'s
All the rear plastic only came out to like 45#s and thats with the door panels
rear carpet was like 40#'s (iirc)

My truck in positive da's went a bunch of 12'6 at 106 to 12.7'at 105 with a few 12.8' 12.9's spinning like crazy. Best 60's was 1.7's
My mods:
Skiba's tune with my mods for fans and idle
tr6 plugs
homemade cai (did not have intake to brake duct with runs this year)
ud pulley
efans
Muffler delete (rezzy still in place)
3000 stall triple disc vig
FLT trans

With just a mail order tune, efans, ud pulley I was 13.30's all day.

So you went 13.3 full weight? Yeah you TBSS diehards are running bolt-on 12's which is very cool.

I went 13.30's at 103-104 FULL WEIGHT a bunch of time's. That was with a mail order tune that was rich as hell wot! Could have gone quicker with some fine tuning to the tune.

It is fun to run a brick this big and break into the 12's but mine is pretty much done. No long tubes but maybe a small cam. Otherwise the money goes into my other money pits!

I didnt know John took all that stuff out, but 12s are 12s I guess, he took the a/c out of the red C5 I sold him years ago as well..

I have a bunch of parts for mine I bought when I first got it, LTs, converter, CAI, etc but I'm scared to hurt the trans. When I sell off the T/A I'll fool with it more, one modded car is enough for me.

I know what you mean. I have read MANY stories about the trannies in these trucks going out. You need to sell me the TA next year!!
