Default New Drag Radial Personal Best: Full Weight + some streetcar setup 408/L92 results

Car ran a 6.81 @ 100mph with a 1.51 60ft on my M&H 28 tall drag radials and street torque thrust 2 wheels. Not bad considering I ran "WheelieBlazer" on the pass and he redlighted. If it wasnt for the fact my seat was too far back to hit the peddle, I am sure the car would of been in the 6.7 range.

pic of the streetcar setup:

Off the street and straight into the lanes with 30psi in the tires and no bottle:
.248 R/T
1.76 60ft
7.74 ET
91mph
(it spun like a sunovabitch! Managed to murder a 05 GTO!)

Same tire pressure but on the jug (had about 8-7lbs or so in it..Used the other lbs from the little hits on sat night with the cobra @ Hulen)
.107 R/T
1.58 60ft
6.93 ET
100mph
(Spun..... alot! Managed to beat some mexican riced out racin gold honda on slicks... woulda sucked to get beat. I put about 6 lengths on em)

Dan lowered the PSI in the tires down to 16 or so PSI, on the same bottle......
.120 R/T (notice I am not THAT bad at cuttin a light when I want to.gettin better
1.51 60ft
6.81 ET
100mph
(spun off the line just a bit. I ran the myspace.com/wheelieblazer on this pass. He redlighted, and if it wasnt for the fact that my seat was too far back and the nitrous went off after my 2nd gear shift (stock leather seats for the loss!) I woulda beat him. ) Damn foot slipped off the throtte for a hair of a second!

Last pass, Dan03Mach was the jockey (and I mean Jockey, cuz he is much lighter than me) Bottle had about 5lbs in it before Dan purged the **** out of it...
.500 R/T (Dan...... why did ya go to sleep fool?)
1.59 60ft
6.95 ET
101.56mph
(First off.... I give Dan some credit, he had about 5 minutes of practice on the return road on shifting the car and my harland shiftlight was not commin on. He shifted the car earlier than I do and that is why I think the mph went up with less bottle pressure. Maybe the fact that he is about 70lbs lighter also helped. He spun the car over 100ft before it really hooked.)

I have 2 of the nitrous passes on camera..... my 6.8 and Dan's pass.

All in all...... I am sure the car could easily do:
.100
1.49
6.78 ET
102mph
with the right bottle pressure, de-glazing the tires with a John Force burnout and figuring out if it likes to flash or footbrake off the line... which I still haven't mastered.

probably not... slim to no chance. I will be happy with a 6.2, which I think is do-able.

I have a feeling the 5.99 pass wont happen until next year.... when I bite the bullet and start hackin the car up.

-Light weight seat (driver only)
-Light carpet
-Remove heater core
-remove bumper supports
-Weld Wheels
-Small front battery like Larry's car

I would hope that with all that taken out and a progressive for a 350 shot with 200 out the hole and the rest before/at the 60ft it will get close.

What do you think. You have much more experience in this dept. than I do.

My 6.81 pass:

Dan's 6.95 pass

cool car and nice combo but i have not seen so many "excuses" setup before giving the results of a track day lol. come on, its just one time at the track and every car has limitations. it sounds like you have a drag car with street wheels....good luck.

325 (not really 325 wide.. more like 300-305) 28 tall...... 17 inch wheels. I was shocked they went 1.51... I am sure with more bottle pressure they woulda broke into the 1.4's.......

I wonder what a 26 tall would do in the 8th with more gear from the swap???

I've already given you enough advise that you didn't listen to, I'm done with the free advise. You need to learn the same way we did, by doing it. I'd say at your current rate it will take you several years to get it to run the way it's capable of running.

Mostly a money issue at this point. Matt, Larry, and yall have pretty much sum'd up what needs to be done.

I sold my other set of wheels, so I can save up and get a VickieVerter, and 15x10's with 325's on em. I bet I will do it by next year, or get fairly close.

Yeah.... you would think. Probably not with 3900lbs including driver.

Motor makes 428rwhp on the nitrous tune. Has a 3800 stall (with the stall and a tune went from 7.55 to 7.30.... The heads are really really big so that doesnt help.

It seems to respond pretty well with the jug though. Jumped from a 7.31 to a 6.6 with a 150shot.

What do most folks gain with a 150 shot??

Also, I am sure in October (cooler Texas weather) with the 455rwhp motor tune the car would run a 7.1 or so.... according to the driver on the 7.31 it still wasnt shifting right. I think that is fixed now.

My goal is to run the car in the fall "all out" and see how well it performs on the current setup. By then it will have a 200-250 or 300 shot on it. Hopefully just a 200 or so is all it will take. It seems to get better and better with more nitrous.

Nice passes. Don't know if I missed it or not, but you are running the M&H 325/17s on a 9.5" wide wheel right? Overall do you like how they hook and act on the street? They liked about 16 lbs of air hot right? I'm considering these or some 295/45/17 MT radials when they're back in production for some 17x9.5 zo6 wheels I've got sitting in the closet.

What's a "Vickey verter"? PI? Save your money, man up and buy the neal Chance, last verter you'll ever have to buy. If you tell Marty exactly what you want the car to do he'll nail it first time.

Kinda sucks.... I have to give Sam his converter back... didnt have luck sellin the Art Carr, and dont have the funds to buy another good one. Actually Mark... Sam's NC converter is PERFECT! Too bad I can't buy it from him right now.
Vickie is a PI...... Larry got me hooked on sayin "Vickie Verter"

M&H's are a great setup... and the 325's fit the 9.5's perfect. They also seem to be lasting longer than my MT's did but not as long as my BFG DR's did. Last night we had em at 16lbs........ I run them at 27lbs-30lbs on the street to keep the wear down.

uhh so this car went 7.7 @ 91 on motor? and 6.81 @ 100 on how big of a shot? am i the only one that thinks this is painfully slow for this setup? are you racing at 6,000' DA?

i'd hate to think a bolt-on ls1 car on drag radials would put a hurtin on this car.

dude you've got a lot of bugs to work out of that car, i'd stay away from the track until you get it straightened out. it seems you've got a lot of time and money invested in that thing, and it ain't even close to right.

Seeing as my 383 LT1 ran 7.20 first time out in this kinda heat at 3800lbs with 2 hurt pistons, on pumpgas all motor. And has since went 7.02@98 mph, something seems amiss on this car.

7.70 on motor? A head/cam LT1 car can reach that number. A "nitrous" tune cant affect it THAT much? Can it?

I mean I am keeping the "motor" tune in my car and using a timing retard and dedicated fuel cell for when the NOS comes on.

I have seen so many 402/408 combos not run well, why is this?

I am planning a 408/l92 or AFR 225 combo for my car later on......but the more I see results like these.....the more it scares me.

ANyone have any insight as to whats going on with these combos?

Now before you crack me, I have a GOOD buddy here locally who has a 408/AFR 225 LS1 with a FAST 90/90, 1 7/8 headers, 4L80E and a 12 bolt that puts down 525 to the wheels on pumpgas all motor. Runs 10.50's all motor weighing 3900lbs. WHy is he so much better? He says his heads are untouched, out of the box.
