first time ever
car is a 99 TA 83k A4 3.23s, shift kit, FRA, lid, p&p throttle body, ls6 intake, lt headers, ory, rumbler catback, car is UNTUNED. good tread street tires, sumitomo htr-z 255/50/16. car will be stock weight minus sparetire/jack. and i run sunoco 93. track is i believe 150ft elevation, and temps should be around low 80's with humidity in the upper 70's
i had a very fun night, got in 11 passes. i didn't have a helmet, and from the website i gathered that they rented helmets, well they don't anymore. so for my first few passes i concentrated on the 1/8th mile and then lifted, then i accidently went under 14, and nothing happened, so you can shoot me but for the rest of night i gave it all i got. i must say i'm kinda disappointed, i was really hoping to be in the 12s. but then again if it wasn't for my horrible 60ft times, i might have been. i started off really bad like in the 2.2-2.4 range. but eventually got em down to 2.0x which i guess is ok for street tires, and stock stall. i was pissed off because i left my tire pressure gauge in my other car, and there was no air pump at the track so i wasn't able to make any tire pressure changes. any way on to the slips:
60: 2.0965 60: 2.0746
1/8 ET: 8.6098 1/8 ET: 8.5887
1/8 mph: 85.65 1/8 mph: 85.58
1/4 ET: 13.2316 1/4 ET: 13.2160
1/4 mph: 106.48 1/4 mph: 106.03
then the best run of the night was vs a blown mustang GT i'm told it was a vortech at 8#
ME GT
RT: .5092 RT: .4867
60: 2.0899 60: 2.1167
330: 5.7009 330: 5.6578
1/8 ET: 8.6252 1/8 ET: 8.5987
1/8 mph: 85.32 1/8 mph 86.04
1/4 ET: 13.2550 1/4 ET: 13.2392
1/4 mph: 106.30 1/4 mph: 107.30
he beat me by a fender ie- .0383 sec and by 1 mph
any thoughts?

Three thoughts:
1. Higher stalled torque converter. 3000 at the very least.
2. Drag radials.
3. Tune
I gained 1 mph going with a decent converter. Come fall times when the temp drops you should be around a 108 trap. Mid 12's assuming you can hook.
Good luck!!!

^I agree except I'd get the drag radials before the stall. A stall and street tires = no traction.
You'll definitely be in the 12's with drag radials. Better weather will pick you up some time and mph also.

I think with some practice and messing around with tire pressure i might be able to get 1.9x 60's. how is my top end looking, like from 1/8-1/4 ? i have to say i really was expecting mid-high 12's.

Get Drag Radials to get your 60 down and your top end will take care of itself. Concentrate on your 60 ft., how did you launch it, stall it up? Did you leave it in D, or manually shift it?

with a lid and a cutout stock everything else i went 12.9 with nitto 555r's on a track thats 15 feet above elevation so i see no reason why you cant get a 12 second pass with a set of DR's. Run them at about 15 PSI and stall the car up to about 2400 and go for it. You have good MPH up top but you need to launch that beast. Thing that is killing you the most is that the car is untuned. You can have a 400hp setup and it can only be a 360hp setup untuned. If your planning on a stall there are alot of nice ones out there. You just have to ask yourself what you want outta the car in the long run so that you dont waste money buying a 4k stall when you plan on going nitrous/SC/turbo later b/c that wouldnt work well together. hope that helps

i definitely think with some practice i could maybe stall it up a bit higher, and push the pedal down a little faster. but for now, i guess i'll just have to wait to find a good deal on some used DRs and a stall. (budget is real tight)

Take it from my expierence stalling up the stock converter does not net you any gains, in fact I found it actually hurt. I saw .2 and 3mph in the 1/8 by simply leaving off idle, oppose to stalling it up. I basically run a stock z28 with DR's and run about the same as you 13.3 to 13.2, this is with 2.73 gears. Try leaving off idle, and try to get a set of drag radials. My guess is you would be in the 12's for sure.

Not bad, as mentioned the tires selection and stock converter hurt you, but the car definately needs a tune with the mods you have. She's consistent though, so bracket racing could be a future thought!
FWIW, I've launched my '00 Formula auto 3.23 geared car with a stock converter anywhere from 900 rpm to 1300 and the 60 foot and e.t.s didn't change much, but the reaction time does (I bracket race a bunch). The car will likely get into the 1.9 range in good weather with drag radials, but a converter will wake her up more.
Good luck and have fun!
