How much does spinning hurt your mph???
I went to the track fro the first time with my 408 and a 6-speed. I wanted to see what it would run it street trim. I had 315/35-17 MT ET Drag radials with 275's up front. Needless to say I was frustrated and very disappointed. It just spun 1st through 3rd no matter what. I was hoping to trap in the 127mph range but could only muster 124mph. I know spinning hurts your 60' and your ET but what about your mph??? Here is how my time slip went.
2.20 - 60'
5.40 - 330'
7.99 - 1/8
94.08 mph
10.21 - 1000'
12.04 - 1/4
124.04 - 1/4
DA' around 2000'
2.20 - 60'

No expert, but on my cars, spin always increases my MPH. My best ET pass, was not close to my best MPH pass.
On the Camaro, I gain 2-3 mph when the 60' goes up from spin. As mentioned, 60' & ET are together.
My best 60' is my best ET. Good luck figuring it out.

man that sucks spinning them!! i had street tires when i went to the track and couldnt grab also.
Also from spinning them like you said, it usually makes your et time slower (duh) but you mph is higher. I bet once you grab and go you will easily dip in low 11's.

when i spin on street tires 2.0s i run 122
when im on my DRs and hook 1.50s i run 127
take the pressure to 18 and do a good burnout untill you see smoke in your side mirror, then let off the brake and spin the tires to the line (theyll hook before getting to the line)
what are you launching at?

I was running at 18psi. I'm not even going to play around at the track on those tires again. I think I am going to go with MT Drags. 26" stiff wall. They measure 26.5" and with my 4.11's I should be good for 130mph. I've read that stiff walls will work better with a 6 speed.

& my cars. Most people get their best ET & MPH on the same pass. My stuff was extremely on the edge.
Cars running 8.50's can be pretty picky on launching. 1.20, 1.30, 1.40 sixty foot on one pass to the next was common.
As I said, I can prove my best ET's had lower mph, and best MPH had slower ET.

The first car across the finish line is the one that has the highest average
velocity, which would come from the highest average acceleration force. If you
take the scenario that you describe and cut the drag strip down to say, the
first 60 feet, you will note that the car with the wheelspin is covering that
distance a fair bit slower. A drag strip is a certain distance, and the
distance that the car with wheelspin "threw away" at the beginning is never
recovered. The reason that it may have a higher trap mph is because the
wheelspin may help the engine get into its power band more quickly, which will
help with acceleration. It will still not be enough to make up the lost
distance and time from going slow at the beginning, which is why a good launch
is so important.

Maybe even think about going with some 28" inch MT Drags? Might work well with those 4.11's. IMO you have plenty of power to push them around.

Will the 28's rub? I have a set of adjustable LCA's so I can center the tire. Also should I stay with the stiff wall with 28's or does it matter?

By spinning you're making the lenght of the track longer hence the higher mph. A similiar analogy would be at a stop sign during the rain and you stab the gas. Your speedo will hit 40-50mph but you're not going anywhere.

the 28s will probably need alittle massaging. i had to beat the f#@k out of my outer fender lips right above the rocker panel and trim my rocker panel/ground effects. i still have the stock lcas on but mine is very close to center because they slightly rubbed the back ( bumper cover) alittle also .
as for the mph thing on all the cars i've raced if i slightly spun or dead hooked without bog i would get best e.t and mph also,but with excessive spinning it would make both e.t and mph suffer.

They might need a little BFH mods here and there, but your adjustable LCA's should do the trick and MAYBE rolling the fenders for extra assurance.
I fit my 28's ET drags without adjusting my LCA's, but It was close.
Are these going on 16' salad shooters or some 15 drag wheels?

They are going on some 15x10 Pro Stars. I have a set of 325/50-15's Drag Radials on them now so the inner wheel well is already massaged. I am selling them while they are still unused and just going with the ET Drags. I was just worried about the growth. I was looking at the 26x10x15 Stiff wall ET Drags. They are a 26.5" tire so if they grow an inch then I will still be fine. I really don't want to cut the rear facia cover. I do have adjustable lca's so centering won't be a problem.

My experience with spinning and MPH is a lot of spinning hurts your MPH. But a little spinning helps it. Dead hooking gives the best ET and "almost" the best MPH. My personal numbers from bolt ons only were:
12.31 @ 109.10 on a 1.65 60' (best ET run)
12.60 @ 110.31 on a 1.85 60' (best MPH run)
13.0 @ 106-107 on a 2.x 60' (normal for a badly spinning run)
