There is a LTx that will hit 7s this year. Its Z8s car. He was the first LTx in the 8s and will be the first in the 7s this year.
Plenty of fast LT1 cars and more and more popping up again. I also know of a mid 10 sec NA 350 LT1s running stock intake,TB, heads with 3angle valve job only.(stock eliminator car) Search Gizmo.
Or check out LS1Speed aka Larry from Speedincs LTX running mid 10s NA. Hell Im pushing 425ish RWHP NA on a bone stock shortblock, stock ported heads, stock ported intake and a custom cam with a S60 rear end.
LT1s are plenty capable of going fast.

Yea Larry from LS1Speed is going mid 10's NA and should easily be able to spray it into the 9's. Its still hydraulic roller I believe, drag radials, mufflers, very streetable, 3.73 gears. It just takes a well thought out setup. You can't just throw parts at it and expect it to be fast.

I'm building a 97 T/A with a 383, 210AFR's and a 91mm. Should be a fast car and my old setup was a ported stock head 383 and some spray, it went 6.79 in the 1/8. That was with A/C and everything on the car.

You can do it.
383 4 bolt block
AFR,TFS or Dart heads
Solid or big hyd roller
Single plane intake with a plate system
Get some weight out of the car
turbo 400 with a brake
200 shot should go mid 9's, I know mine would even at 3600 lbs.
Larry at LS1 speed's car is pretty light, the more weight the more power you need, The more weight the more tire you need.

Dave Diluca's old car is now blue I think.
Big Rick's old TA went low 8's a number of years ago, and Z8's old YSi blower setup went 8.9's a few years ago as well. I think only Z8's car is still together, so his new twin turbo setup should go 7's.
