Default Gearing question

I have been thinking of going to 3.23's from the now 3.73's in my rearend. The problem I am having is I usually cut somewhere around 1.5X short times however with those times I am hitting the rev limiter [6800] about 50-100 feet before the traps which nets me 10.6X around the upper 120's. What would 3.23's do for my times? Any thoughts and input is appreciated?

The car is pretty straight forward full wieght car with P1SC [8psi], forged 346, TH-400 w/ 3800 stall, Moser 12 bolt[3.73's] running on Prostars with 27x11.5 Hoosier QTP's

hitting the limiter that close to the line will not make much differsnce in et(maybe a 10.58 instead of a 10.60)

Ok, well I would also like to have some room to grow because I am thinking af making the jump to an F1A blower in the future...

ditch the 27" tire and go with a 28

Sounds like you have a very loose converter with lots of slipage

6800 rpm's with 3.73's and a 27" tire is 147mph. Sir you have some serious slipage.

Yea, for that mph your need the extra tire, otherwise your out of room even for the future (power or weight reduction), you could also try to get some more RPM out of the limiter.

Id runs some calculators to determine converter slippage, its not a large stall but the converter maybe bad. The MPH seems to be on par with the gear calulator in the gears section.

Do a google search for a Converter Slippage Calulator and its pretty facinating. I think you want idealy 9% slip, any more is considered excessive.

+1 on the 28" tires. Cheapest way to solve some of your problems.

Check and see how much it will cost you to send back your convertor and have it tightened up. Usually you can have this done for around $200. Atleast with ATI you can.
