Default Electric solenoid for Cheetah shifter?

Thinking about getting a solenoid for the 1-2 shift on my Cheetah until I get used to the car more, any recommendations? All I've found is the dedenbear unit, kinda pricey.

Also pics if you have any.

Thanks!

I figure I can make any solenoid work, I'll just make a bracket. I do need an rpm switch though, and recommendations?

Also, having never used one of those solenoids before, how do they work? It looks like they default to an open position. Do you just "****" it back and let the rpm switch release it?

I dont know if anyone makes an electric solenoid shifter for a 3 speed cheetah, I would do an air even if they did. I have never had any luck with a 3 speed electric shifter, air is the way to go.

ACD makes a great Co2 setup for a three speed cheetah..

I don't really need it for all the three gears, the 1-2 shift would be enough.

But I'll look into the ACD setup, thanks!

NM, found it. $530, ouch. Pretty trick though. Does the box interact with the stock ecm stuff OK? I guess all it needs is an rpm signal.

Maybe Santa can bring me one....

I bought an air shifter from a swap meet for $20 and the used a MSD digital window switch to activate it. I just had to alter the bracket to work with my quarter stick, but $20 in a CO2 shifter setup that I can run on air or gas isn't a bad deal...

If you are just dong the 1-2 then you can rig up just about anything, pick up an old hurst solenoid for a glide that '*****' back, when you remove the power it lets go. Problem with those is they draw a few amps to stay cocked and get hot/drain the battery. If you turn the power off then you cant leave the car in 1st since the spring is always pushing the handle.

Then you have the shiftnoid style that when you apply power it bumps the sifter, those work as well but they take a pretty good ampunt of power to work right, at least a 10ga wire straight to the battery and they are limited on pushing power.

The ACD is complete though and does all 3 gears with a different RPM setting for the 1-2 and 2-3. I'm pretty sure the box will work with an LS,like any other window switch/shiftlight/tach it needs to be set up for a 4cyl.

Thing with electric/air shifters is you want it to work every time, I have used the ACD setup on a cheetah and on a prostick and if you turned on the Co2 bottle they work, hot or cold, cable binding a little, didnt matter. But you can certainly piece something together for the 1-2 shift on your own for next to nothing.
