Default et street question

I have been wanting a slick and wheel setup for the track. I have the chance to get a set of convopros with a damn good price with tires. They are on my friends camaro. He is also unsure of the width, we think 15x9. The rears have et streets 275-50-15's with very few miles, in great shape. My question is, can the tires hold up to a really hard launch with my 6spd? I really wanted some hoosier qtp's 28" tall. I want to launch the **** out of this car, i am just unsure about the tires. I have some bfg drags, great on the street but a waste of money buying them for the track. Can any 6spd guys give me some advice?

I have had both 275/50/15 et street radials and 27/11.5/15 Quick Time pros.

QTP > M/T

and after launching with bias ply tires, I don't think I'll ever go back to radials...

I launch above 6000 rpm on 26x10.5-15 ET Streets at 20 psi to 1.6 sec sixties. No radial I've tried works nearly as well as ET Streets on my car.

They will hook if your car is set up right. I have them on my car and they do pretty good, but i need a bigger tire.

From what i read here you really need a bias ply tire for a six speed. They just recover so much better.

ive gone 1.49 60ft on a m/t 275/60/15 dr with my M6 but it is tricky to get it consistent ..IMO go with a et drag for a M6 , also get a 2 step it will make you very consistent

I had ET streets on mine, On motor a 26in tire was best, but on nitrous a 28 was a must. The 26 had its feelings hurt by the nitrous hit. I couldnt get any better then a 1.60 flat... I honestly think with 6spds, full suspension on the rear is a must.
