Default 7.00 Index Class

I'm looking to get into heads up racing and it looks like index racing is my best bet for my budget. A local group runs a 7.00 index class in the 1/8th. My car currently runs about 8.00 in the 1/8th with the 6 speed in it. I should be swapping a 4L60E in soon with a 3200 converter. How much spray do you think I will need in order to get the car to go 7.00?

With the 6speed it was only going 1.85-1.90 to the 60ft. I'm hoping to go low 1.6's with the auto.

Unless you are a terrible driver with a stick then I don't see your 60' dropping past a 1.7x without some suspension or something. JMO...

K&N CAI, Pacesetter LTs, ORY to Dynomax Bullet. MadZ28 tune, Nitto 245 DRs, cc503 cam.

Going in soon is a built 4L60E with a 3200 converter and going to switch to MT DRs.
I'm hoping it will go 7.60's with the auto in it.

Vee8, what was the change in 60ft on those 2 runs?

current mods in sig and im cutting 1.6x 60' and running 7.4x with a 3600 stall. Go bigger on the stall, atleast 3600. I've had 2 3600 stalls and a 3000. Go with a bigger stall, I kinda wish I had a 4000 stall. What gear? Gear and stall will help your 60' and make up for the lack of hp. Assuming you can hook.

Skinnies are worth .1-.2 tenths of a second. Im working on getting a set now.

Good luck,

Pride

most 7.0 index racers will put you on the trailer.
i know in the southeast, all 7.0 is on a pro tree, and everybody is transbrake popping.
you can bracket race at any speed and be competitive if you can drive.

You are changing several things at once so that's makes it hard to give an educated guess (tranny, tires and N20). First you need to see if the auto helps or hurts you, if it helps you like you think it will then I say start with the 75 shot and tune from there. In most cases a 100 shot will drop you a full second so if you hit 7.60s with the auto swap then the 75 should put you right around 7.0 (I think the 75 will drop you 6 tenths). You will have to be hooking and cutting a good 60ft, at least 1.60 or better. As stated above suspension is going to come into play really quick so be prepared to spend some more money. GL

Its been a while but I think it went from 1.8 to 1.6, on radials with completely stock suspension. OK so the front sway bar was removed.

I know I might not be extremely competitive but I would rather race heads up than bracket race.

I am trading my 6speed with a guy for his auto that current has a 3200 in it. In the future I want to go with a 4000.

Those index races are some tough stuff. Those guys will run 7.01-7.05 every time out to be competitive. I don't think nitrous is going to be consistant enough to go rounds consistantly. Too many variables. Your best bet will be with the tires, bigger stall than 3200 and a trans brake. Then you can start picking away at weight reduction and go from there.

Yeah. That was pretty much a shakedown run short shifting 1st and 2nd. Problem is that the track is closed until late May.

You can be hard headed now but after a month or two of getting eliminated the 1st or 2nd round, you may have a change of heart about bracket racing. Nitrous in a index class isn't gonna go fly....
