Default 10 point is installed need cert.

I got my cage all welded in and now I need to get it certified. Can I just get it certified next time I go to a track? If not whats it take to do this? Do I need to leave the interior out or can I start putting it all back together? Whats it cost? Im in South Fl. Im really lost on where to go from here. please help!!!

Also the welder couldnt get to the underside of the rocker bar or the back side of the dash bar, Im thinking this is not good. Will this pass inspection? The bars welded to the plate are welded with a mig and the rest with a tig does it require to be fully tig welded?

Joe

^^ That or call around to the local shops, someone always knows when inspectors come around. It shouldn't be difficult to get inspected. Congratz on the safety mod.

I think it was about 75 bucks when I had mine done, but there was several cars all getting cert'd at once.

If you have a local chassis shop they should be able to tell ya when they're next cert is.

If there's something that isn't welded all the way, that may be a problem. I'd try to get it welded all the say, and if you can't, put a small piece of tubing in the corner of that point to make a triangle at that point, then they won't give you too much trouble.

You don't want that coming apart in a crash that I'm sure of.

At the start of the year at my track they do the certs. I got on NHRA's website and just looked at my region for the closest chassis cert date at a nearby track. Got my cage certified and then ran at that track for the rest of the day. Price was $75 and it took less than five minutes.

Thanks, guys. I spoke with NHRA today and said the same things all of you have. they do have an option to come to the house/shop for an additional mileage charge. if thats what anyone ever needed. Not sure what they charge though.

You should be good with the dash bar.. Technically that bar is not required in a sportsmans cage unless you have modified the firewall other than OEM. The same go's with the rockers bars. Only needed if you have modified the OEM floor (ex. Back half) As for the floor plates you can mig weld them to the floor (mild steel to mild steel) For Moly cages i normally would tig weld the cage bar to the floor plate and mig weld the foor plate to the floor. If this how yours is done you should be ok with the certifying. If you ever decide to up grade your cage you will be required to add gussets to all the bars that are not 100% welded.. But other than that you should be good in passing your cage certification..

Do those guys bring out an eddy current or anything to check for structural integrity? How in depth is the 8.50 cert? I'm going to need to get mine done when I move back down next year.
