Default 10pt Wolfe RollCage Install w/pics

I have begun the winter modifications. I have been taking the interior of my car apart to allow the installation of a 10pt wolfe chromoly roll cage. I chose the jig notched option. This is what I have done so far, I will up date as I make progress.

Seats and Carpet out:

Center Console out:

Start of Dash Removal:

More Dash Removal:

Steering Wheel & Dash Removed:

Dash out:

Steering Wheel Back on:

I tried starting the car and it seems like its in alarm mode, so i will be figuring out how to trick the car to run so I can take it to fargo to get my roll cage installed. I dont have an appointment yet but it should be soon.

-Grounds were never hooked back up, once they were for the Body Control Module it ran fine.

Rollcage Pictures
Rollcage fit pretty well, T-tops work just fine with plenty of room.

Swing out bars(had my installer put these in)

Removeable side bars

Using socks I washed the cage twice with marine clean (por-15 cleaning product) and rinsed twice. Then applied metal ready (por-15 metal prep solution) and rinsed twice.

Using tagboard to keep the interior away from what I was doing.

Why did you leave the sill bar and dash bar out? Also, what are your plans for a window net mount?

What is a sill bar? Why do you need a dash bar? This is a legal 10pt cage far as I know. Or is it just going above and beyond for more safety? I am leaving out the window net(isnt that only 9.99 and quicker?) I am not quite there to 9.99 but when I get there AND if the local track enforces a window net I would get tabs tig welded in. I would rather never put them in, this is a daily driver and a track car occassionaly. I think this install will keep them off of my back for a long time.

I was talking about the rocker bar. When I did mine I installed every bar they gave me, and was just wondering if there was a specific reason you left them out.

I believe that he installed all the bars that came. The side bars are removeble, is a rocker bar make an X on the side?
So far as I know everything was installed, side bars were custom made removeable.

Dash bar is only required if more than 1 square foot of the firewall as been modified.

We supply a Drivers side rocker bar (sill bar) on all of our cages. It runs from the bottome of the main hoop (just above the floor) to the bottom of the side bar (bar that comes thru the dash). Depending on the car and how you read the rules it isn't necessarily required. We always supply one in our roll cage kits and always install it. Like the idea of having an additional bar under and to the outside of the driver as extra protection.

Install Looks good!

I liked the idea of that rocker bar so much that I made one for the passenger side also. Would 1 sq ft maybe be interprited as maybe heater core removal? Great kit BTW.

thats not modifying the structure of the firewall. to the best of my knowledge, you have to make a structure change to the chassis.
looks good.
does por 15 offer a satin finish?
im getting ready to do a cage, and the gloss is a bit much for my tates.
not to take away from yours. just personal preference.

Don't the rules require that the window net be securely mounted on the inside of the roll cage?

Yea they have a semi-gloss, the standard por-15. I put TOPCOTE on it, IMO it made it look way more smooth and better, but yea if you arent a fan of gloss, they offer less glossy finishes.

Yes, cant so much use the rear view mirror. What does everyone else do?

Next week the dash should be almost wrapped up, have to mount the BCM (body control module) with zip ties or something, the passenger side bar passes right through the old mount for the BCM.
