All I can say is...

If any of the "street" cars from the "Worlds Fastest Street Car Shootout", that I saw in Orlando, FL this past weekend show up it will be sick.

The slowest class they had was the "Radial Tire" class. This is not ET Streets, these were guys running drag radials. All cars had to have stock style suspension, interior, and minimum race weight of 3400 lbs.

The cut of for the 32 car field was 9.20. The #1 qualifer was like 8.30...ON DRAG RADIALS!! I was in awe seeing these guys hook and run 8's all day on radials.

The heavy street class had a minimum weight of 3500 and no slicks, they were running mid-high 7's on ET Streets.

I was like damn I would love to race in the radial class but I'd be lucky to run high 9's with a 200+ shot on my motor. But to do it on radials :O AND I wouldn't even have qualified!!

I really like the sound of these kinds of events, but it looks like you will have to be running 8's for sure on ET Streets to have a shot, that's my prediction.

Frei, you think someone can run 8's on pump gas?

If so that would be what, a 502ci 7:1 with a turbo? Just curious as to what car has gone 8's on 93 pump gas.

I guess someone could use alchohol injection to make it work.

At the Shootout I would say that 40% of all the cars that qualified were turbo charged. The others were nitrous. All the big dog Super Pro Outlaws were turbo and alchohol/blowers.

There were more turbo Mustangs there than you could shake a stick at. And there was also some very impressive 4th Gen body style Camaros, of course they had BBC and forced induction or a big shot of nos. Unfortunately I didn't any LS1's qualify. Although a car like the silver ARE car would have done pretty good in the radial or heavy street class.

Make me think about buying the motor they have for sale...

Awesome!... Finally something for real street cars....I imagine this it like the true street that the ford guys do... if so you would be surprised, the majority of the cars that win are not really that fast.... relatively speaking. The really quick street cars usually break or have to abort a run or two.

Thanks for posting in here!

-Jarrod
umm I lost in true street before with a 9.07 3 pass average! there are some very quick true street cars

I think the key here is 93 octane. I doubt any 8 sec. turbo Mustang owners would attempt to run their cars on 93.

It ain't the rule, but its definetly doable.

Imagine it with EFI (Knowing Blow Through Forced Air Carb Setups aren't ideal)

I know there are a few 706 cube motors out there that run on pump gas also.

I think you should outlaw detonation sensors for this event.

I'd love to see a pump gas car go 8's but I am thinking mid to high 9's will the record, and indeed I had that Procharger Nova in the back of my mind.

I'd outlaw alchohol and water injection since the nitrous guys can't really do that.

I am pretty certain the winner will be running in the mid to high 8s. You can easily make 1000 hp with a turbo and pump gas. Couple that with a light car and a properly setup suspension and you have a winner.

Oops you are right GatTagO, you could bring a 2500 car to this event.

notice that inspection isint listed ;D i think it should be. (not intentionally enforced) but it adds up.

now, i think this would be an awesome class to run in. a real "true" street class. ;D

i think a light car w/ a v8+ turbo would take it home. 2200lbs loaded, 800+ RWHP on pump gas? ;D yeah i think so. there will more than likley be some 8 second contenders. i know i'd be there. ;D

So what's with the "How do you plan to cheat?" question on the entry form? What kind of answer are you looking for here?

None of us have 454ci turbo cars that weigh 2600 lbs.

But I am intterested in going I just want to point out that a true street car would be at least 2900 lbs.

I might enter as long as I can spray. And I assume that DOT ET Streets would be fine? Only thing I'd be worried about is 9's without a chassis cert or license.
