anybody used the cheap SFI plate you can get on ebay??

I consider the tci a pretty good deal so I wouldn't want to risk shrapnel everywhere for anything cheaper.

It's your car, but a flexplate isn't something I'd cut corners on.

The only stock ones I've seen broke had too much run-out or the starter gear was damaged.

I can show you a shiney new billet wheel with the center ripped out of it.

I saw Speed Inc has one as well... I know someone said what brand it was... BTW all of these aftermarket flexplates need to have the GM adaptor used with them to work with the th400?

I didn't use any adapter with my TCI flexplate. I had a TH400 converter built for an LS1. If you use a standard SBC/BBC th400 converter, you need to use the TCI or Hughes spacer.
