Default LS1 TH400 flexplates...

What are you guys running, which ones are working for ya, which ones have you seen fail a bunch? A buddy of mine said that a couple brands (one atleast) was having a problem tearing the whole center when hit with the Transbrake.

Please post from experience/and or what is out there. I only know of the Hughes one, speed incs flexplate, and then TCI.

I've been running a stock '98 flexplate for a couple years now without any issues. Just gotta use the spacer.

TCI here, it is very stout. You have to run a converter with the small bolt pattern, 10.75" on the th400. It also has the 4l60E pattern.

I"m still trying to understand how that guy tore the center out of a hughes.

I have had a hughes on my car for 3 years now and it's been fine, leaving off the transbrake for 2 years with no problems. over 100 10 second passes and probably 70 9 second passes 1/2 of which were 9.6 to 9.5 and I haven't had any problems at all.

JL... I haven't seen it myself or heard any real convincing evidence, just hear say. I guess I'm just doing some investigating before i make the purchase... I just like my feet is all!

Is the Hughes one SFI btw?

If the run-out is excessive I can totally see the center of any flexplate getting ripped out.
