16 volt battery on 12 volt system Can this be street driven??
I get to the track, cool my car off a couple of times and the red top Optima is dead. Will this help this issue?

the bad thing about the optima batteries is once they go dead a few times, they never fully recharge again. i know they claim that you can run them dead and charge them and they are like new but i worked in the car audio industry for 8 years and that just isnt true. once they go dead a few times they are junk.
One guy had a neat generator...he took a push mower, removed the blade, installed a V belt pulley, made a bracket, and mounted an alternator to the mower. Runs all day with no problems.

My son said his new battery charger has a seperate charge position for glass mat batteries. His little AGM battery wouldn't charge to over 55% when charged on the lead acid cycles but came up to a full charge when slid over to the AGM charge position. He said it lowers the voltage but increases the amperage while in this position.

tell me about it, I have a 680 and I just had to put mine on a chager for quite a few (like more than 4) hours yesterday just to get it to start after the car sat for most of the winter. Even after that many hours and even running the car with the alt working, it was only at about 1/2 charge...

I have a 16 volt alternator and battery drive mine on the street some . Your windows will love it they work like a ford twice as fast. I have never had an issue with lights but it threw my factory gauges off. and i run a fast system not sure with a stock pc or with the coil pack stuff. I am old school MSD 7531 and i have seen 17.7 volts on data logs from the alternator so consider that.
