Default Front facing hood scoop

Looking for some pics. As much as I hate the look, my 3" vfn ss hood only gives me a finger's width above the new carb set up. Need some room to breath! Thanks.

If you go with one, go with something modern, like a current pro stock car. Or talk to VFN or Glasstek and have them make you a custom hood with a taller cowl.

Having driven other cars, both with monster cowls and pro stock scoops, it is a killer to see driving in the pits and can be hard to see the tree.

just went from a forward facing scoop to a 6" cowl and gained 3 mph in the quarter. Mine is a fuel injected ls1 in a 64 chevy II though so the aero dynamics was a big help

Check my sig for pics.
I had a VFN 3" SS hood. I did not have the scoop hole cut out yet, and it had a true cowl.
Looked badass, and I can imagine, despite aerodynamics, with the hole cut it would cool the engine quite a bit since the air would travel over the engine and out the cowl.

Just go to a bigger hood. I use a VFN 6" Sunoco hood, and my Single plane intake and carb style TB clear fine.

Pm and call to vfn Monday. They said nothing sooner than five weeks. Going with a Glasstek stock style pin on with cowl extension and a Harwood scoop. Now I need to work on the mullet.

Thanks, it should run well. Found some problems that didnt get checked during assembly. All should be well in a week or so.

What about a Glasstek 4" cowl? Would it clear?

Thanks. Just realized today that the shootout doesn't allow front facing scoops. Actually they do if it is a ws6, ss, or similar style hood. Pretty subjective.

Run a scoop plug, you need the clearance. When not doing the shoot-out events you can reap the benefits of the forward scoop.
