Default Anyone run a forward facing hoodscoop?

I was wondering if anybody in here is running a forward facing hoodscoop on thier 4th gen? I'm thinking about running a Harwood 3165 "ant eater" style scoop on a flat hood. Just trying to get a feel for its looks.

You will find that very few guys on here even can consider a scoop like that because the throttle body is at the front of the hood. If you have a carb setup, it is proven to give you some gains.

Do you have a carb setup? Just guessing because of your sig...

The forward facing scoops work well for like a top sportsman or promod or pro stock. They will slow you down if you are an 8 second or slower car versus a cowl hood.

That's not true, you just have to make sure that you have your carb or whatever you have feeding fuel to the engine, ready to compensate for the added air that the scoop will collect.

I watched one of my really good friend's no box car pick up from low 7.20's to high 7.0's one night from just swapping back to his hood with the scoop from a cowl hood.

And those are 1/8th mile times...

Yes, this is a carb LS1 set-up that I'm doing now. I'm thinking of switching over to the 98-02 nose and doing a scooped hood.

That isn't the best pic of Charlie's car, but his car looks damn good with that scoop and I like it because it comes back to the windshield. I will try and find a better pic later on today if I can....

Ive always run the harwood 3161 aero scoop. It will definetly ram the air to it.

our timing was 9.67N/A
But when we put the scoop.
our timing is 9.52 N/A
and with more fuel to the carb we made 9.1N/A
