I have been talking to several veteran die hard drag racers and it's a hands down fact that a Radial Drag slick is good for a 1/10 (+/- .02) reduction in ET over the standard bias drag slicks. The problem is that no one currently makes a 26 or 27 inch tall radial drag slick YET. They would cost a little bit more than the bias , but they also last longer and hook at least as good if not better.

I recently talked to Faron @ Hoosier and he asked me to get a concensus of how many individuals might be interested in a radial 26x10-15. He said they could be produced if the interest was at a justifiable level.

When you say radial, You meen like a Drag Radial correct?
If so, I would love a set of 27x10 (or bigger for my 10"rim)x15.
I would try them out for the reason of streetability as well.
I can also say about 5 or 6 friends that are not on the bord would by them as well.

Yes it's true. That is what Al Corda uses also Jat Billingsley is familiar with them.
Just need some sizes.

These are not the same thing as a drag radial. They are still slicks, just a different design and manufacturing process.

These are actual DRag slicks that I am referring to. Currently they are only available in 30 inch and larger. These are non-street Drag Slicks. They are at least (if not more) as stable as a standard slick. I have had No stability issues with my ET drags at 12 psi. I just want a better ET for minimal expense. Basically I want something for nothing and it's possible to make it available if we can prove that there is a market. We may have lean on the Mustang group for additional interest. The more the better!!!!!

A true 27" Tire fits Most F-bodies with no cutting or ripping them apart. I think a true 27"x 10-10.5 True contact patch x 15 would be a big seller.
I as well as a few friends would scoop them in a min!

Also a radial slick does not grow like a regular slick, the sidewalls are a lot stiffer.

As someone who has run the 30x9 radial slicks from Hoosier on another car (92.5" circumference version: 29.5" tall...they do make a 92.9 / 29.9" version, too in the 9" and 10.5" wide slick)...some notes:

DOWNSIDES
1) If the track is "iffy", you don't want them as they do not hook if the track is too cold or slick,...so, keep a set mounted of bias-ply's around if conditions warrant...

2) They don't recover well if spun like a bias-ply,

3) They are much more expensive than a bias-ply slick

4) They don't grow...downside if you need a bit of growth due to rpm limitations...good if you don't want them to grow

5) Sidewall is often too stiff for some people...many manual Stock Eliminator guys don't run them, others do and love them

6) They are a couple of pounds heavier but are to run without tubes or screws (though some screw them to the rim anyways)

7) They don't last near as long as a bias-ply especially if you smoke the **** out of them on the burnout (like I like to for grins)

8) As you point out, size is limited: only four flavors as I mentioned above by ANY manufacturer: 92.5" or 92.9" circumference and 9" wide from Hoosier, M/T, Phoenix, or Goodyear though not all offer the shorter one. Hoosier is the only to offer a 10.5" version, albeit, in both heights. I think a bunch of us would take them in a 26x10 AND a 28x10.5". To justify a new mold, I am sure that Hoosier would want a substantial order up front.


BENEFITS
1) They hook like crazy on a well-prepared track

2) Less rolling resistance

3) Very stable sidewall (and see #5)

4) No tubes needed

5) You run them at 16-22 psi

6) They don't grow

7) Tit for tat, you pick up about a 0.05-0.10 and 0.7-1.0 mph

8) Think of them as a bald Drag Radial with a bit more flexible sidewall


Now, after all that, I'm going to be test fitting VERY soon both a 92.5 9" and 10.5" Hoosier under my car to see what I have to beat and cut up to make them fit. Won't be as much as someone who has not fitted 28.3" bias-ply slicks like mine that grow big time at 128!...yes, mine are 28x10.5 M/T's, but they measure 28.3" at 20 psic and grow to about 29.3" based on what I incrementally clearanced.

I want the taller tire as I may (stressing may) be just a tad bit faster come springtime and may just need the taller tire.

That's why you might as well go with a 28, shouldn't need much trimming, since it's not going to swell. But I would consider the 27", if it makes me faster...
