9. Want to go faster, get some mods.... Like tires, 12.5 @ 116 is horrible... What was your 60'?

116 is a fine trap for a cam only, stock weight car.

You might want to drop some weight, and see what happens.. and give us your 60's..

I am running 125mph traps @ 418 rwhp... losing weight helps alot. I should actually be in the 127-128 range next time out, dropped another 200+ lbs last month....
Why is a 12.5 for a fully loaded interior, power steering, leather spare tire and jack so terrible?

What kind of what weight can i drop? i do not want my car to be a race car.

My 60' for yesterday was a 2.0 with my nitto 555 extremes (315/35/17) on my 17x10.5 TTMs

It has to be the DA, what altitude is the track you ran at and how was the weather. I was running 12.0s @ 118-119mph with the same power on some kumhos. That was with all stock clutch, suspension, gear. Wait for some really good weather, temp in the 50s and the pressure high.

Air temp was 77*, the altitude at the track is 662'.. The DA that day was +2069'

Well, with less mods, and arguably more weight I went 1.8001 60' 12.40@109 on a 285/35/18 street tire. Truely full weight T/A, nothing taken out, leather, cd changer, heavy wheels and tires (18 inch C6 Z06 Replicas), spare tire and jack, powersteering, no free mods done at all. You need to make the car hook first, because you can still go fast full weight.

Did you try shifting to 4th? Any suspension mods? You should be running high 11's. I run 12.5's on street tires in my bolt on/full weight DD with 112/113 traps.

Could also pull the air filter, and up the front tire pressure to around 45.

I am NOT short shifting. I talked to tuner mike at straightline. When i got my re dynoed he left my rev limiter at 7K that could be bad news if i miss a shift.

I was shfting jsut pass 6500 every time with the exception of crossing the traps. I crossed the traps in 3rd hitting ther limiter once at 7K

That was 2 things i forgot to do was pull the air filter and air up my fronts..

What does pulling the filter really do? I have done it before... And i think i need to droop my psi in my rears next time to 25 or 20. I had them down to 30 when they were HOT

A little weight reduction will definately help. My car trapped 12.10@115 last year and it weighed in at 3600 without me in it. That was with full interior, stock k-member, and heavy wheels. This year it weighs 3295 without me and trapped 117.6. My weight reduction includes drag wheels/tires, umi k-member/lower a-arms, corbuea seats, removed rear seats, replaced steering wheel/air bag with a MOMO, and abs delete. Everything else on the car is the same as last year.

if i were you i wouldnt worry about pulling to much weight out of the car, unless you want to go extreme like rob and me...

i think the best option for you is skinnies up front and some drag rims in back that will save you around 100lb and give about 1.5mph...

I've always pulled the filter. Think of it this way, assuming you have a K&N, which is oiled. Try to breathe through a wet washcloth vs. no obstruction. See my point?

As far as tires, I think you're on 17's, look at the tire straight across at 30psi, do you think the contact patch will get larger at 20psi? I don't think it makes much difference if at all. However, since you do have the free time, why not take a straight edge to the car, and record the tire contact patch at the two pressures. I highly doubt there will be much of a difference, or enough to make the difference between a 2.0 60' and a 1.7 60'

Jack and Spare
Hatch flappy thing
Rear seat belts
Front sway bar - or at least disconnect it to aid in weight transfer
Miscellaneous crap in the car - loose change, floor mats, paperwork
Owners manuel
Anything else not bolted down

I FIRMLY believe that a lot of people would gain a .10 and 1mph by cleaning out their cars!!!!!!

A fresh 4 corner alignment may also help as well, ive personally seen a car pick up a half second with a good alignment, however it was in bad shape before the align.
