Spare tires for skinnies :)
I don't race my car at the track but maybe twice a year so I don't see a reason in buying skinnies. Howvere, my Fikse and BFG's up front are heavy as hell and I'm thinking I could save an honest 40lbs (unsprung weight is equivalent to about 140lbs inside car) if i used spare tires. How much would it knock of my e.t., a tenth? I was thinking about a light-weight battery, no swyabar and spares up front. If my car runs 12.5, I was hoping that would put me in the 12.3-12.35 range. The main thing I wanted to know is if the track officials will let me do this. And if so, will it steer okay? Will it be any worse than skinnies? I just never heard or seen anyone else doing this before. Yes, I know it will be ugly. So what.

50 mph rating doesnt matter, you'll never get the tires up to temp.
The skinnies most guys run aren't even speed rated and many go very fast.
They won't let you run 2 spares at the track though.

Alot of people are using the Pep Boy's VW Tire. I think they are 165/70 15. They cost about $50 each.
For wheels get the CL Convo Pro 7.5 x 4. About $120 each. So for aruond $300 you can have a safe skinny's set up.
Using the spare tire isn't a good idea.
