I would STRONGLY reccommend a set of the 8 ply, or at least the 4 ply sportsman front tires. I ran the 4 ply and they were fine @ 40 lbs... the VW tires that I have seen people use, don't look right even with 50 lbs because the sidewall just can't support the weight. Now, imagine having to make an evasive maneuver with that tire on the car, they'll roll right over and then you're gonna be in trouble. At the track, car gets sideways on you say 150 feet out because of some oil the last import left on the track, then you'll find yourself in trouble too. Nevermind if you stand the car up, and it comes down a little hard, even from a 2 foot wheelie.

Ditch those tires please as soon as possible.
100% right, couldn't agree more.
I run the mt sportmans 8 ply at 45psi or so mainly because that's what psi I drive around the street on and I'm usually too lazy to take it up to the tires max pressure of 60 psi.

I run a moroso ds2 now that the car is a track only car and is light enough for them.

I run them at 40 psi as well.

I run 50 in my M/T sportsman fronts.

Amazes me that people spend thousands on a car and want to skimp on something that could very well kill you, or at a minimum trash your car...all over a couple hundred bucks.

Your kidding, right? Their cheap and how could you go wrong? What happens if one does let go? Your willing to take the chance with your car and the one in the other lane? Not me.
I had those in my possession before finding out the speed rating. Took them back to the tire store, explained the situation, and they agreed about my safety concerns and had no problem taking them back and ordering me the right ones.

ok... BUT, as we all know, there is very little weight (load) on the front end when accelerating, and the tires might be above 120 for how much time? hell, if the car is an 1/8th mile car, it might NEVER see that speed.

why waste money? sure, if the cars a sub 10 second car, defintly run the right tire, i can agree. but for something thats gonna see 120+ for short bursts, 4 to 5 seconds, why waste 300 bucks?

You kinda got it backwards there dude. Its all about how the tire reacts in a PANIC situation. The overloaded VW tire is likely to roll off the rim in a panic type deal. Or think about this, you hit a slick spot on the track at 85 mph and try to correct the car.

You skimp on brakes also dont ya? Cheapest pads and rotors you can find?

This thread is FULL of FAIL.

I can not believe some of you idiots would run a low rated tire at the drag strip....

What a damn shame...

The worst part is, you just might cross the lane into ME... ******* idiots... spending THOUSANDS on their motors... and only $39 on their front tires that could wind up KILLING them or ME....

I bought M&H bias ply front runners... and I paid $150 EACH... and was HAPPY to do it for MY safety and YOURS...
