I'll shoot a couple tomorrow and see how they come out.
I figured there was a reason. I'm sure there was some progress pics you could have taken

I can't really tell by looking at the pics, but is there anything supporting the weight of the gv unit? Do you know how long the gv unit is?

No nothing supports it. The adapter basically makes up the length of the tailhousing you remove from the trans ( which itself is cast aluminum) and the GV bolts to it. The adapter is reinforced with structural "fins" I guess you'd call them and is a heavier piece when compared to the original tail housing. The GV unit itself is around 12" long. My new driveshaft length will be 28 5/8".

I was thinking the same thing, that maybe it should have it's own support but after I bolted it in I could tell right away that it's very sturdy when bolted up.

Driveline angle does become more critical with the unit in place because of the short driveshaft it will vibrate bad at higher speeds if it's not right.

Here's a vid of a dyno pull that Billy from RPM Motorsports posted on my thread on YB forum.

http://host.stangsource.com/Bobz/GearVendors.wmv

It's a '05 turbocharged GTO and a th350 with the GV on it that they installed.
You can see the tach and how little the rpms drop between shift as they row through the gears and GV gears over.

I'm assuming the lights on the dash indicate whether its in OD or not. I guess I really don't know how this thing actually works. I was under the impression that it was only for a final gear, not to be used with each gear. Do you have to activate it or is it done automatically?

GV states in their instructions not to add any extra support to the unit.

Thanks man!
They do make one for the 4L80, you would be at like 900 rpms at 90 mph, haha

if you're gonna split each gear, like in the video, you have to do it manually. You can also set it to come on at a pre determined mph that you would set.

I plan on just using it after final gear for now like you were thinking.

Is there an advantage to doing it the way they have it in the video?

rpms drop less between shifts keeping you in your optimal powerband more during the run.

I'm dropping off the driveshaft on Monday and I'll be working on a couple of odds and ends this weekend. No real progress since last week.
